After a few stiff drinks I finally got off my wallet and placed my order:

and a pair of 70L bags (bluegrass and roarange): https://www.amazon.com/Thule-Chasm-...m/dp/B01GG1NL5C/ref=pd_ybh_a_3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=V4BPG671GJ304FDNVB3S

Debating on if I might also want one of the matching bags, but in 90L.

I've still got possession of my original Sears bucket; FREE - first come, first served.

First data point: after installation I refueled.
Today I again refueled (345 miles) and as expected observed my worst MPG to date - but it's not bad at 22.5 MPG; down from a previous average of 24.2 mpg (over 3400 miles).

I do sense a bit of wind noise once I reach 65 mph (but I have to listen closely in order to hear it); a testament to Thule and/or Honda.

I'm trying to decide between using my existing Thule equipment, versus buying the Honda crossbars, for carrying a 16 ft canoe. It looks like the Honda cross bars are located somewhat close together, and towards the back half of the roof. If I buy the longer Thule crossbars I would need to fit the width of the Passport, I think I could attach the front crossbar much closer to the front of the vehicle, and therefore get the canoe more centered ( with less sticking out the back). Any opinions ?

Go back to earlier posts (11, 13, 15 - Safety6) where he speaks of successfully roofing his 18'6" yak. Pics included.
Going by memory I believe the max spread using OEM equip is 36", my Thule rack (also pictured) was spaced around 35".

Viewing the pics he (Safety6) provided it appears that he used non-OEM cross bars. They don't appear to have provided any additional front to rear spacing but are physically located over the rack (wider than the OEM, hanging over the sides).

I suggest you contact Safety6 for better recommendations.
And don't forget the rule, we need pics or it don't count!

I also see where Safety6 greatly contributed info towards this question in another forum:

Important - read to the end as things changed as he went along.

Hi, all,

I have the same question: how to carry a canoe. I have the Honda roof rails and crossbars. There are many kayak mounts that will fit the Honda crossbars including the ones I see on the College Hills Honda web site. I'm sure that the factory crossbars will work fine with my 10 foot kayak, but I also want the capability to carry my 15 foot 68 lb canoe (though probably not at the same time). My previous SUV was a 1992 For Explorer. I had good luck with Yakima round bars on the Explorer, but the vehicle and roof rail geometry of the Passport precludes sliding the canoe on from the rear. I've considered some of the boat loaders that attach to a trailer hitch, but I don't really want to put a hitch on my Passport. NJ uses a lot of road salt and every hitch I see is heavily rusted. So, side loading appears to be the only option. I'm thinking the best thing to do is remove the Honda crossbars and install (when needed) Yakima timberline towers and 78 inch crossbars. To facilitate side loading (without bashing up the Passport) I would clamp on a longitudinal bar between the crossbars or buy something like the Inno load assist attachment: https://www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and-Parts/Inno/INA453.html.

Any experiences or opinions?

Thanks!

Bob

Nope, just one old guy. I use Thule Hull-A-Vator... I load the kayak from the side... another pic. It's pretty easy loading unloading the kayak with this system. The kayak weighs 59 lbs.
What towers and crossbars are you using? I was interested in the Hullavator and emailed Thule and they said they don't have crossbars compatible with 2023 PP and a Hullavator.
