I've decided to give something totally new a try: Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail. These are a "new" class of tire tailored to the crossover. Cooper has a similar tire that has been out a little longer but the Falken has slightly better specifications and is less expensive. I am not sure but these particular Falkens started shipping earlier in 2019 (spring/summer-ish).

The size is 255 /50 R20, which makes the tire a full 30 inches in diameter which is 0.6 inches bigger than the OEM size and 0.4 inches narrower (see calculator).
They are all-season trail tires, with an extreme weather rating for snow. Details found here.

I had hoped Tirerack would have done their full testing on this set but they haven't yet. The full truck variant of the tire does seem to test extremely well (way better than the OEM tire in all categories), and various online reviews have all said these are great tires. I got these through my local Discount Tire (they are a surprisingly awesome tire place despite the name).

I expect them to be noisier. I measured on the OEM tires 61db in the cabin cruising at 60 MPH. I'll be driving the same stretch of road next week and I'll measure the noise level again with the Falkens.

General use outside of pavement will be lite offroad on Colorado forestry roads and surrounding areas. I once had a full-on trail vehicle (a Toyota FJ Cruiser, lifted, armored, and with winches) that was fun but horrible to drive, and the PP is in no way a replacement but is a means as a regular dog(s) hauler and a weekend car camping vehicle. I think it will do well.

As for the OEM tires... it was a little embarrassing the other week we got ~20 inches of snow and I was nearly stuck pulling into a parking lot when a Subaru with trail tires zipped right around me with no issue ?

Maybe I'll post more photos later. It is supposed to snow this weekend so I may have an idea of the snow performance compared to the OEM soon too.

Snowed this weekend but melted fast. Heres a couple more Blizzak 255/60/18 on Ridgeline 18s.

I like this setup a lot! I’ve thought about going with this setup myself. I really want to get some 18s (Maybe even 17s) on the PP. I’ve done some light off roading on service roads and the pot holes vibrate through your spine even at a very low speed.

Thanks! Indeed. These wheels look factory on the PP and exude some of the ridgelines ruggedness. I traded a ridgeline for my pp and found the 20s quite jarring. Not to mention the factory continentals are absolute garbage especially in rain and snow. I spend a lot of time in the mountains and even in town the ruts get pretty crazy in the winter. It’s night and day how much better it rides, especially going up to 255/60/18. These will stay on my car half the year and I’ll probably find another set to put AT tires on for summer. Hell even a set with factory ridge tires would be good. They are much better than the pp ones.

Tire size is 245-60-18. This size tire + 18" wheel = same overall diameter as original tires + 20" wheels.
Those look awesome. Did you get a new tire load rating sticker with them? If so would you mind giving the 10 digit number on the extreme right side? I need it to have my Passport’s computer programmed to the“new pull off” Black Edition Ridgeline wheels I bought. According to a master tech and the service manager they need that code to program in vs merely changing the tire size by picking the new size tires. Neither of them had seen computer ask for a wheel code before. I had them scratching their heads when I left this evening. Thank you very much! I’m including a photo of a sticker I found for 20” OE wheels.

Couldn't you just get the # off a RL or Pilot (EX-L and below).
What programming are you referring to? Is this for speedo correction? Done via the HDS, or thru the head unit?
The size difference between original and the 245/60-18 is almost negligible.

I ordered a 2' Lift and am looking to keep my 20" wheels. anyone know what size tires i can run without any cutting or trimming?

Thanks in advance!

My guess would be two inches taller! The Tire Rack lists tire height.

What changes in the speedometer has anyone had that switched to 245/60R18 tires? Any replies please state your Passport trim level. I went with 2019 Ridgeline Black Edition wheels and Falken Wildpeak AT Trail tires that are listed as 29.7” tires and my speedometer reads more than actual speed measured by GPS. With a larger diameter tire it should be slightly higher than the speedometer states. The only thing I can figure out is that the Falken tires are actually smaller than the stated diameter, Falken and Tirerack lists them at 714 revolutions per mile. I’m still in my 30 day trail period and plan on getting Michelin Defender LTX or Continental AT Terrain Contact in 245/60R18, which are listed on mfr websites as 29.6” diameter and 703 revolutions per mile for the Michelins and 702 for the Continentals. FYI the stock tires on the Elite are listed at 29.4”/ 707 RP mile and Sport and EX-L stock tires are 29.7”/ 699 per Continental.

Best to ask your tire/wheel experts, but the G2 shows a height of 30.51 inches, I think the stock height is approx. 29.5 inches, so it is about 1 inch taller, but another factor could be the offset of your Wheels...

Im running 255/60/18 on ridgeline rims on my EXL. Speedo is a little off but not enough to bother with and I don’t know why everyone is so OCD about load calculators and stickers. If they dont rub it doesnt really matter. Any 18-20” light truck tire can handle the PP’s weight just fine.

Also, StephenD, wheel offset does not affect ride height.

To the guy with the lift kit, I’d be more worried about rubbing on the inner fender due to width rather than height of the tire. I’d stick to the same sizes most of us are using but be glad you can probably get lower offset aftermarket rims.

If referring to the guy I believe you are then that is specifically why he performed some trimming (front/rear clearance, not up/down).

Yeah, I knew that, I was not sure if having wheels with different offset (from stock) would hit when the steering was was cranked all the way to one side or the other, any thoughts on that?

Also, in looking at Wheels, I see their Load ratings all over the place, some as low as 1700lbs and some up to 2700lbs, anyone have any idea on what the stock wheels were rated at or how did you decide?

thanks!

Today I ordered 265/60R18 Nitto Terra Grappler G2 through my Honda dealer. Due to backorder they told me it'll be 4-5 weeks until they receive the tires.

Since getting Black Rhino rims is too expensive, Honda suggested me RWC rims that were made for them. The wheels he ordered me are (18 x 8), 5 x 120 bolt pattern, 64.1 bore with +45 mm offset.

I asked the dealer if the size of tires I have ordered will cause any rubbing issues and he said that an increase in overall diameter from 29.4" to 30.5" will not cause any rubbing. I will not be able to confirm this until I myself drive with this setup. Keeping my fingers crossed and awaiting to read from one of you who may already have similar size tire installed.
