If you can share a few things about your ownership of the Honda Passport, what would it be? The most liked or hated, share them with every one I am sure you won't be the only one.
Sorry about your mishap. Sounds like you must've just tagged the light just right to make it break. Being in a supply chain sourcing role myself, all companies try to cut corners, where possible, to save money.I purchased my 2019 Touring model brand new from the dealership last yr. With that said I noticed that the materials used are of low quality. For example I was backing out of my driveway and I hit the handle part of my trash bin which is plastic and it put a perfect hole in my rear light housing. I get it that it was my fault but I was going less than 2 miles an hr! I noticed that minor dents are common as well such as when someone opens their door when I am parked next to them. I never noticed this in any vehicle I have owned and I have owned many. Bad luck, bad driver or bad car??!! Either or not too happy with the cheap material used! Trust me I noticed other parked Passports and they have similar dents! Haha!
Is there a way to have the blind car assist lights to have a beeping sound? Currently I only see the lights come on but a sound would be good. I asked my salesperson and she "thinks" it's only available on the Elite model. Is this true?
Thank you for the reply! I will try it today and see how it goes.Sorry about your mishap. Sounds like you must've just tagged the light just right to make it break. Being in a supply chain sourcing role myself, all companies try to cut corners, where possible, to save money.
I just found this on the web. You need to make sure your button is selected "on" in the dash area to the left of the steering wheel where the parking cone icon is. You should hear the beeping, since I do on my Elite.

Just today! I filled at a 76 gas station and I got scared. It make a cracking sound and I think I broke something. I looked around and everything looks OK. Why is this happening? I wonder if I can remove it if I broke something?Ok... here's one...Cap-less fuel filler.... it's happened a few times. Maybe it's me and I'm doing something wrong.... The cap-less fuel filler doors... I've had the fuel pump nozzle get stuck a couple of times here. (Michigan-Non emissions vacuum pumps...just the regular type) I was at the fuel station and had to really work at getting the pump nozzle out. I felt like a fool. Anyone else have that problem?
Considering the fact that you have to rev the engine to get the car to come awake, do you think Honda's cylinder deactivation may be having an impact on the "unresponsiveness" you described?Today it took me 8 hours to drive from Albany, NY to JFK airport in Queens, NY about 365 miles round trip. Averaged 26.8 mpg's never turned the engine off or got out of the car. It was stop and go and crowded highway the whole way. Honestly, in these conditions the Passport frustrated me. That 9 speed is asleep it's way too unresponsive. Putting it in sport doesn't do much nor does the paddles. The only way to get this car to come to life is to rev the snow out of it. This 9 speed has been dumbed down over the years to fix it's issues but as an engineered package with the engine they don't work together well. It's not easy to drive quickly and I find the downshifts frustrating. It's always in too high of a gear and it feels heavy with the throttle mapping. I've had Odysseys that felt quicker in these conditions. To get it to move it needs to shift down to like 5th gear from 8th or 9th. It's a good winter rig but I'm debating trading this in for something else. I have a RAV4 hybrid that is much better suited to today's conditions, the E-CVT and the throttle mapping combined with the battery provide instant responses.
I had an 2014 Accord V6 that was one of the best cars I ever had. I suspect it was in VCM a lot due to its weight but it was a rocket whenever you wanted it to be. The transmission wasn't perfect but that car you stick it wherever you wanted to. When you hit the gas it moved. It did have a noticeable delay when you punched it but throw it in sport mode and it was quite capable. The Passport is a cruiser, just set the cruise and enjoy but for yesterday's traffic it just isn't capable of being quick with its reflexes. My guess is that it's the throttle mapping and the 9 speed partnering together to make the MPG's. I'm probably part of the problem too. There is a dead spot in the 2-3 shift, you can move the gas pedal a lot and there is nothing proportional to the inputs. It's getting to the point that the only reason to use the PP over the RAV is for it's size, interior cabin features and winter prowess. It's heat is fantastic and in the rare event that I have be out when it's snowing that's the vehicle you want to be in. Also, after that deer hit last December, it felt like a tank so I'm guessing it's very safe. The 10 speed may solve all of this but getting 27 vs. 41 (or more) isn't enough these days.Considering the fact that you have to rev the engine to get the car to come awake, do you think Honda's cylinder deactivation may be having an impact on the "unresponsiveness" you described?
You need to keep checking the A/C and make sure it's blowing COLD air. We leased a new '19 in March and when we needed the A/C two months later it only blew hot air. The dealer said there wasn't enough refrigerant put in at the factory and added some. That worked for 3 summers (I think). We live up north and when we turned on the A/C this May (3 years later) it was only blowing hot air. Now the dealer says it's a compressor leak problem. We're looking at $2600 to get the A/C back on a car that was driven 25,000 miles in an area where A/C is needed less then half of the year. If I would have checked the A/C output temperature at the vents regularly (even in cooler weather), I might have caught it under warranty. Honda Customer Service would only look at the date we discovered it. My GMC Sierra will blow out 40deg air on a hot day. We plan to buy this Passport but I will check the A/C temp more often. Hopefully you don't have this problem. If you can share a few things about your ownership of the Honda Passport, what would it be? I wish it had a ligament SUV console.I don’t like the armrests that are like stubby T-Rex arms. I wish they had a telescoping feature so I could move it forward a few inches.
This is the core of the issue. Long before the existence of the present Passport, Honda Pilot and Accord owners have complained about Honda leaving the latest top end functions and premium accessories out of those vehicles but most agreed that if Honda branded vehicles had everything, Honda's premium Acura brand will probably lose a lot of customers who opted to buy a Honda instead of an Acura.I think Honda is saving #4 for the RDX...
I figured that. However, explain to me how Toyota is able to make the Venza? Or perhaps how the RAV4 can be had with ventilated seats? I'm not an expert on this topic but I think T and L are doing fine in sales both ways. This is the core of the issue.
I was under the impression that ALL VW owners wish there vehicles were more like other brands.... LOLThat's why when you find a customer that is satisfied with his Audi you might also find another that wishes his VW was more like an Audi.
Honda's decision making has always been suspect, it seems like someone in Japan is making guesses on what American car buyers want...I figured that. However, explain to me how Toyota is able to make the Venza? Or perhaps how the RAV4 can be had with ventilated seats? I'm not an expert on this topic but I think T and L are doing fine in sales both ways.
I would buy the new bus. In fact, if my wife can wait to have a kid for a few years, that could be our minivan.I was under the impression that ALL VW owners wish there vehicles were more like other brands.... LOL
If the Venza was that popular Toyota would not have discontinued it in 2015. Yes the second generation has returned in 2021 but the equipment still pales when compared to the RX and NX, the nearest Lexus equivalent vehicles. If you are a Lexus buyer who is used to the power of the standard V6 in the RX 350 you will not be bought over by the 4 cylinder hybrid in the present Venza, and you will also not leave the standard top end leather interior in the RX for the optional leather/simulated leather mix in the Venza, so the equipment level in the Venza will not steal any Lexus buyer.I figured that. However, explain to me how Toyota is able to make the Venza? Or perhaps how the RAV4 can be had with ventilated seats? I'm not an expert on this topic but I think T and L are doing fine in sales both ways.
I've not heard of any vehicle that Honda is using to fight the advance of EVs, neither have I heard of Honda advocating a non EV future but I'm willing to learn. And the same argument can't be had with Honda and Acura?
