I was attempting to find the latest map update for my Passport nav system and came across this on the website:
I'm hoping the following message means the Garmin Express maintenance is a temporary situation and that I'll be able to check for map updates soon.
My current map on my nav system is 2019.11

NOTE: As of 11/6/19 - Map Updates and Reinstalling the maps for the following Honda vehicles have been turned off due to Garmin Express maintenance.
  • 2018 Accord
  • 2018 Odyssey
  • 2019 Accord
  • 2019 Odyssey
  • 2019 Insight
  • 2019 Pilot
  • 2019 Passport

Is there a detailed users map for this?
I'm accustomed to stand alone Garmins' and my car unit isn't similar in entering places (out of state), saving (and naming) places, DELETING old items, etc.
Check out this web page, scroll down for a .PDF download of the navigation manual.

Went to update my navigation system. Plugged into Garmin on dash First and the.n launched Garmin express. Then got message vehicle information out of date: please update the vehicle information on SD card or USB drive before continuing. Does anybody know how to complete that step!
Thanks,
PDog

I recently wrote of my adventures in updating two Hondas (PP & Ody).

The first problem was my USB drive was too big (yup, anything over 32Gb will be refused).
The second problem was my Garmin Express software (used with previous standalone units) was out of date - claimed it was unable to contact servers.
Online Garmin help lead me to ID this problem. Once those two problems were resolved I was able to update the PP.

However the Ody presented another problem; Garmin Express didn't recognize my units serial number.
I contacted their support and they came back with a followup email asking me to send them a file that was found on the thumb drive.
I did and several days later they said it was taken care of and to retry. I retried and found my maps were already current.

I suspect you're running into the same problem I had with my Ody, Honda hasn't let Garmin know that your unit exists so it won't allow you to continue. Save the info on your thumb drive and email garmin support the files found there. Give them a fair amount of time to respond, in my case 3-4 days (including a weekend).

One other thing comes to my (weak) mind; they clearly warn that the cars USB data must be less than 24 hours old.
Were you trying to use old data? If so then reformat the USB drive and then restart the update process from the PP data stream.

If that doesn't work try booking a room at the Express Inn.

Well not sure what you mean. I put the usb in the usb in car then started engine and went to navigation system and updated. Took out started Garmin express which I updated yesterday and followed the steps and got the message I started my thread. Maybe my real problem is that I am a prostitute to Marriott...

I prefer Hampton Inns but oftentimes must use whatever I come across.

Re-reading all of this leads me back to your original post
"Then got message vehicle information out of date: please update the vehicle information on SD card or USB drive before continuing."

That cryptic response makes me believe that your CURRENT data wasn't found on the USB drive. I would reformat the drive (to eliminate old data) and start over. Then without delay hustle on back to your computer and try it again.

If unit I’d invalid then you need to contact Garmin ASAP and get device file send to them on email. They’ll add in there system and then it be able to add in express but mine had issues even after adding to express as it won’t give me updates
it should give me 2020 updates but tell maps is current but it also don’t show what map version are install on express and then support folks took log files from express and newer device file from car and now back to waiting game ...

Based on your earlier comment I went back to check mine. Even though I updated Garmin Express (just last week) it advised there was a newer version.

After (again) updating Garmin Express it advised my PP was current, running Full Coverage of North America 2020.10.
On my Ody it only says its the current version but Doesn't provide any details.

On two of my stand alone units it says Full coverage, 2020.30 and two additional units as lower 49, 2020.30.

you’re on 2020 already so it’s current.
And it’s also showing what map in express.

I’m on 2019 and express don’t even show maps so they have to look into more on why it’s not showing maps on express and that’s the reason on why it’s not letting me update from 2019 to 2020

I followed the instructions to update Nav using a USB flash drive. I was able to initialize the drive in the PP, download the update on the computer, then upload to the PP with the engine running. I got the message indicating the update was successful. However, next time I drove the PP the Nav does not work. It only indicates that the maps are updating. I left it run for over an hour two different times without success. I was going to upload the new maps a second time but that is not an available option. I'd appreciate any ideas.

Stopped by the dealer to try to see why Nav did not work after "sucessful" install of 2020 maps. Kept getting " maps uploading" on the screen but never would work. Tech fried w/o success. He was reset all vehicle defaults and Nav now works with the old maps. He saw that I had used a 32GB 3.0 flash drive. He said he has found that the PP likes 16GB 2.0 flash drives. That it appears that 3.0 works but it does, in fact, not update properly. I will try again later with the 16GB 2.0 drive.

My nav update saga goes like this, so far... I can successfully collect the configuration data from the nav system, but when I attempted to add device in Garmin Express, it said it was an Odyssey instead of Passport, and that the device ID was invalid. Even though my Garmin Express appeared to be current, I grabbed the latest version and reinstalled, no difference. Garmin support did not seem surprised, said it was because their database needed to be updated, don't worry that it says Odyssey instead of Passport, that's only a label. He had me send the config file to him, and said he'd throw it on top of the pile of others that needed to be added to the database. After a couple of days I got an email saying I was now in the database and should be good to go. Well, Garmin Express still thinks it's an Odyssey, and the error message changed from "Device ID invalid" to "Device not compatible with Express." Back to Garmin support, and this time they seemed surprised, and said he'd have to "send it over to engineering." It's been about a week with no response, but given it's the holidays I thought I'd give them more time. More to come later... I hope.

Is your USB drive between 16Gb-32Gb?
Is it formatted properly (File system: FAT32, and its allocation size: 16Kb)?
Has all other data on it First been deleted (a quick format is the easiest, most assured way to do so)?

My first attempt at updating I used too large of a drive and it refused to cooperate.

Update... I never heard back from Gamin support. I checked a couple of times to see if my problem was resolved, but was still the same. This morning I thought I’d try one more time before giving them a call, and it worked! Recognizes it’s a Passport instead of Odyssey, and is now in the process of downloading a map update to USB drive.

Mine also updated to 2019.10. However, when I started the update it said the current version was 2019.11 and the new “update” was 2019.10. Maybe I don’t understand their numbering scheme, but seems to me “.11” would be newer than “.10”. Anyhow, I proceeded because I wanted to verify the update process. I figure I’ll recheck for an update again in a few months.
