Sunroof Wind Deflector?

Has anyone else noticed the excessive wind noise and air turbulence with the sunroof? When it’s open to the vent setting it’s super noisy and when it’s all the way open I get bad wind turbulence that hurts your ears. I’ve had a few other cars with sunroofs and none of them have been this bad.

Anyone install a deflector to fix the issue? Which one did you get? I checked weather tech but they didn’t have one for the passport yet.

I LOVE my passport, but the sunroof is probably one of my least favorite parts. It’s entirely too small for the size of the car and these noise issues make it barely even worth having.

I had one for three days from Honda! It was horrible and there was nothing that could be done for the wind noise. I took it off myself and returned it to the dealer for a refund. Plus I didn’t like the look and it was not what was promised.

what was “sold” to me from the dealer, who still can’t spell Passport...was a sun screen type shade on the inside. so if I’m driving with my sun roof open there was a screen and I’m not burned up from the sun. I have had skin cancer issues for 20 years so I wear a hat to the mailbox! but they delivered my car back with that thing, and I did give it a few days, but no way I could deal with it.

re: leaking sunroofs my:
1996 - 2006 civic never leaked
2006 - 2013 CRV never leaked

and these honda lived in Phoenix, Vegas and So Cal., so lots of hot and dry weather.

I agree sunroofs aren’t quiet overall, but the one in the passport is abnormally loud. The vent whistles loudly and when it’s open you get that crazy wind turbulence sound that feels like someone is tapping directly on your ear drums. It’s horrible unless you roll all the windows down.

I don’t find the sunroof any noisier than any other I’ve had. I do feel it lets in A LOT more air than any I’ve ever had and that does bother me in cold weather. It blows straight down on my bald head.

I’ve found if I crack one of the rear windows just a bit, it takes care of everything. I do have vent visors though.

I installed the visor Honda sells for the 2010 Ridgeline on my 2019 Passport. It works really well on the RL, it’s just OK on the Passport. It is better than the unit Honda sells for the Pilot & Passport, that one is noisy.

Thats where I hide/ transport the bodies of people that ticked me off; I can even just flush it with water once they're disposed of.
Please come by and help yourself in picking up fallen limbs, available year found.

It is an issue for sure. I have had over a half dozen cars and trucks with sunroofs. The intense noise hurts the ear drums in the Passport. I will also work on a solution as I love my Passport but use a sunroof often.

I installed the OEM Sunroof deflector. It did help quite a bit with the wind noise when the sunroof was open. However, It made the wind noise louder when the sunroof was closed. Since that is 99% of the time, I took it off and it is now stored in my garage rafters. $120 experiment gone wrong.

I added one, along with cross bars, and the wind noise is horrible. I thought it was the cross bars making the noise, but after closer inspection, the wind visor is loose and air is getting under it. Honda installed it, and I am now debating taking it off. It covers half of an already too small sunroof anyway. How difficult is it to remove?

The moonroof visor is very EZ to remove. Just four screws with nuts secure four brackets. BTW- if the brackets are not installed properly, you will get wind noise when the sunroof is closed. This is indicated in the installation instructions. Problem is that the brackets soon tend to work slightly loose which results in the wind noise. I tightened the brackets a couple of times but got fed up with it so just removed the visor. Necessary tools are a 10mm open end wrench and a Phillip's #2 screwdriver. With the sunroof open, use a rag to hold the small air deflector that pops up in the down position to provide access to the nuts which are held with the wrench while the screws on the outside are loosened. One person can do it but it is much easier if you have a helper.

Has anyone installed a wind deflector that reduced the noise when the sunroof is open? If so, which one did you buy? I'd like to use the sunroof but it's just too noisy at highway speeds.
I bought and installed the OEM myself. I don't trust any adhesive/magnet on the outside of the car, OEM has brackets the screw into the wind deflector. I did notice it cut down a lot in the noise BUT there are 2 big drawbacks. 1. It literally covers almost if a third of your sunroof. 2. When you wash the car it's a lot harder to clean the outside of the window completely because of the visor. I'm happy with it though because in the warmer season I always have all windows down. I also have OEM hood deflector (not low profile since it doesn't do anything) and window Deflectors which didn't change the wind noise but allow me to crack the windows when it rains. Also all other deflectors install with brackets and screws do they're there to stay

The first 3 days I owned my PP I had a rock hit my windshield (thankfully only a tiny knick). After that haven't had any. Now it's hard to prove its because of the deflector but I have seen small debri like bugs and rock dust actually deflect from the deflector. Think of it like this, next time you see an 18 wheeler, tell me it won't have a deflector on it. They do work. But again the low profile ones to be do absolutely nothing because it's flush with the hood. I will also say that after 6 months the washer around the screws lot their dark black color and the plastic itself has like a weird faded look like when you look at a bubble and it's all wavy.
Good information! I also got a cracked windshield about a week after I bought the car. Mine was on a newly-surfaced road, not a rock in sight. It was a big hit right in front of my field of view. I had to get the windshield replaced. Fortunately, insurance covered it because an aftermarket glass was $850.

Thanks for your responses. I plan to get the deflectors.

Yea, easy 20 minutes to unpack read and install unless you're a big person. Then you may need help. Doesn't reduce the noise much in fact it might be a little louder when the moon roof is just cracked. Little quieter when wide open. Does reduce the breeze in the cabin when wide open. With A line tint, low profile bug deflector, side window deflectors and mudflaps it looks pretty good too! Check for seal across the front and tightness after a few days.

How could they possibly interfere with the windshield wipers? I've never heard that a day in my life lol I know a loooooooooong time ago some windshield wipers would lift off the glass due to the air moving against it but all manufacturers, both car and windshield, have that flex design and downward force to constantly hug the glass. Without self incriminating myself, I can assure you no matter the speed you go the windshield wipers won't fly off or even chatter
