Past Passport Rebates/Incentives

My car was recently totaled and I’m looking to buy a passport. I have a back up car so I am in no hurry. As this is absolutely the worse time to buy a car I was wondering what rebates or incentives Honda as offered in the past on passports. They are currently offering special financing or $1,250 cash. I am interested to see if they have offered better then $1,250 in the past. Hoping in a year or so Honda will have better offers.

$1,250 rebate was what I got back in March, along with the 1.9% rate.
$36,519.43 was my out the door price for my white EX-L AWD (Total Selling Price including accessories line item), which does not include tax, title, license, but does include the $1250 discount.

For a $40K MSRP vehicle, I considered this a big win. The first out the door price they brought me was $46k, and we negotiated from there.

A few things helped me though I think:
1) I bought on the last day of March, at the end of the day
2) I bought right before the car market prices went insane
3) I was trading in a Subaru, and the Subaru dealership was right next door, so I stood up and told then thank you, but I’m going next door. They came back with exactly what I asked for after that

Thanks for sending this photo. It is really really helpful! Unfortunately my vehicle was totaled earlier this month in the worse buyers market ever. The good news is that I have a back up car and work from home so I can wait it out as long as I need to. I went to look at passports today and basically the dealers are asking full msrp. I did some research before I went and told them I was looking for a price almost identical to yours ($35-$36 range for exl awd) but know that during this market it would probably not be possible. Of course the sales women try to say even pre covid that there is no way I could get that price because their margins are low. It’s crazy on how much has changed in 5 months. Hopefully if I wait 5 months I can get around 10% of msrp like you did. I will keep this photo handy for negotiations when the time comes 😄

I lot of times, sales incentives are regional, I was at my local Honda dealer a month or two ago and they were ADDING $7000 to the MSRP on the Touring or Elite Model they had in stock...!

I suggest you use Car Gurus to search for Passports in your area OR use a buying service like Costco or Navy Federal Credit Union, etc...

Good luck and good choice....!

I’ve been shopping for at least 6 months (Many brands and many models). Been hoping to get a deal with patience and luck on timing. So far no go. All the dealers are playing hard ball so far. Like you, I don't "need" to buy right now. My 2013 Acura RDX is fine. But this does require that I override the part of my brain that has an emotional need to get a "new" car and make myself be patient!

I know what you mean about being patient! I have been working from home for over a year and a half now and literally only drive about 10 miles a week to the grocery store and back but I’m having a hard time being patient! Just keep telling yourself it makes absolutely no financial sense to buy a car right now when it’s not needed!

I work at a Honda dealership and Honda has advised the sales staff that they do not expect conditions to improve until at least sometime next calendar year. Some industry experts are projecting that conditions will not improve until a full calendar year from now.

My crystal ball has a recall right now and I would prefer to think in terms of if you want to buy a car just buy the car. Waiting around for some arbitrary "better deal" doesn't really amount to anything.

I’m on the east coast and the current incentive is $1,250 customer cash if not using the 0% financing. Is $1,250 customer cash average, less or more then past years? I wondering in particular what Honda offered in 2019 when the passport was reintroduced and before covid and chip shortages…..

As @penzance mentioned - check the prices paid thread. @stevenD posted up a thread about 2021 models as well...2021 Passport Prices Paid

Good Luck on your search. I picked up a touring in April of this year and took the 0% financing option. I emailed with the dealer and gave them a price and they took it ($37.5 for a touring + tax, title, license). Probably helped that they had the exact car I wanted in their lot - but this site helped me while researching pricing and seeing what others paid.
