I did get the Honda basket and I’m a Thule fan but I like the smaller size better with the kids stuff and our bike tires so we will be pretty limited on the inside space and it’s generous / I’m height challenge at 5’ 7” so hope there is a ladder for me when I get to the middle of nowhere and when all of this snow melts ?

Great idea, I do use a Thule Step Up if needed but usually an open door with running boards works well with boards and skis just no bikes or kayaks as trailer action then for this one

Hey guy finally took some rough measurements in the garage (TMI but into wood working and so can’t wait for it to warm up as I have a few projects lined up ?) ok back to the roof basket.

40” wide max upper bar
50” long max

These are rough measurements as taken from my floor on the garage but seems plenty big enough for my gear - this isn’t on my PP yet.

There were a couple of obvious reminders on my assembly instructions like donet drive over 80 with the basket on and don’t go into an automatic car wash - duh ? but maybe there r peeps out there that r dim bulbs lol

Anyways, wanted to put it on the PP as I have the bug now ?/leaving in a few hours with the familia to head up north with the PP and hope we have good gas mileage / there is on off road park close by and may take a son and play and will report back ?

I got two of the step hooks off Amazon and they work great with the Passport. We already have a small step toward the rear of the back door that's perfect for stepping up on the step hook. If you're doing any form of roof storage, I recommend it.

That's more like it, $15 vs $45... not a hard decision... I might get on just one just to provide access when I'm washing the top...

 

Great reminder / I use a Thule step up and have forever with my height challenged 5 7 lol/it’s good for skis, boards and basic gear / anything heavier is tossed on the Trailer / the days of carrying bikes and kayaks on the top is over for this one ?

If I get a roof basket, I want it long enough to hold an Easy-Up which are about 50-something inches, so the Honda one would be too small...

Anyone with the roof basket installed, can you tell what the height of the passport is now? Worried about garage clearance.

 

Im installing mine with my son in a few hours, finally, as it’s still a little chilly out (low 50s) / I will try to take a measurement and report back

 

Got the Honda basket added (looks good) and couldn’t take an accurate measurement with it on - it is the same as the Thule 49x40x6

 

Ok, one more update with pics (Honda basket same size as Thules small) happy camper here, someday soon I will get to use it ?

Since it appears that the Honda Roof Basket is a rebranded version of the Thule Canyon XT; Does anyone know if the Thule Extension for the XT will subsequently fit the Honda Basket?

 

Haven't seen this answered but if anyone else was wanting to find out, yes the Thule Canyon Extension XT fits on the Honda basket. The Honda basket actually has a sticker on it with the Thule Canyon XT name.

Hondapartsnow has it for $280 but doesn't say if it includes all mounting hardware. They show a separate number for the hardware kit.

 

Do those roof baskets increase the wind noise?

 

One caution about roof mounted accessories ... keep your overhead clearance in mind. Several days ago I passed thru a Taco Bell that had a low
canopy - causing me to get out and look. Fortunately I cleared.

 

Installed my basket tonight and boy was it a tight fit going into my garage, but all is well! Tomorrow I'll measure the height for all that have a need to know....

Installed my Thule MOAB basket with Aeroblades. Had this setup on my KL Cherokee for a while. Nevermind the zip ties; the mounting hardware for the fairing requires modifications which I didn't know originally and broke them all. $5 zip ties do the same job.

 

I'm wondering if these baskets add to the wind noise at freeway speeds.

 

Not really. That is, if you have a fairing you'll be fine. I ran the basket without one at first when I get it many years ago and immediately took it off until I installed the fairing. It'll whistle like crazy without one.

With one on honestly can't hear it.

 

I'm pleased with how quiet my thule cargo box (shown above #26) cuts thru the air at everyday speeds.

Ah, sorry. I'll go out and measure mine later. I plan to put the Traxda 2inch lift and slightly bigger tires on soon. My MOAB basket is taller than the new Thule ones which are way more sleek.

 

Any of you buy a cargo net for your OEM basket? If so, any recommendations?

 

no, haven't bought cargo net, I'm thinking I will be using tie straps
