Yesterday while driving home the cruise control stopped working. The error message described the fact that the radar was obstructed (likely dirty for the road grime as it was snowy) that diver safety systems would be disabled (no collision avoidance).

What was more annoying was that I could not use cruise control at all (or at least I could not find a way to make it work).

Anyone know a work around (yes, I will wash it today and likely that will restore full functionality).

That’s the way tech is on these cars. Unless the sensor is behind the windshield and can be cleaned by the wipers, that’s going to happen whenever the weather is bad or you haven’t cleaned the H in a while.

I think this sensor is in the grill. It wasn't a particularly heavy snowfall, I'm a little surprised it faulted out. The windshield was cleaned many time

And...no car wash but Cruise is working again. I did not think the snow was so heavy as to not use cruise. I'll have to keep an eye on this.

Hello,

So maybe I'm doing something wrong....maybe not. The ACC sensor does not seem to "see" the cars in front of me all the time. I'll, for example, have my cruise set to 72MPH with a following distance of 3 units. Sometimes it works as expected, and when the person in front of me slows down, my vehicle slows down to maintain the correct distance.

Many times, however, my car does not recognize the vehicle in front of me until I am very close, at which point my car brakes moderately. This happens regardless of the type of vehicle in front of me - small sedans, tractor trailers, etc. There's no rhyme or reason to when it works and doesn't (at least none that I've been able to figure out).

I've gotten to the point where I just don't trust it anymore.

Anyone else having this issue?

Thanks!
Same thing on our 2019 Elite. I have a 2014 Accord that is PERFECT in the ACC area. I can drive Houston to Dallas and not touch anything. The 2019 will run us right up to the car in front of us then SLAM on the brakes.

NOT GOOD. Will not buy another Honda unless this gets fixed.

I am might trade in my Passport in the event that it is fixed or improved, perhaps as soon as a year from now.

Granted, Honda can fix this issue with a software upgrade. And they should. But, to get rid of the Passport because of the ACC, to me that would be a little dramatic. The Passport has plenty of other qualities that the competition can't come close to. I've been driving for over 40 years without it and have gotten along with standard cruse control for as long as it's been around. Personally I don't want to depend on or put that much trust into technology to get me through life's little experiences like driving. Just my 2 cents.
 Come to think of it....they said we'd be driving in flying cars by now

Well if you are responding to me I should qualify my former statement further. My employer will pay $100 per month towards a financed new Honda vehicle after I work there for a year. So come April 2022 I will be looking to trade in my current 2021 PP for what I hope will be an improved 2022 model year version.

I took my first long trip involving heavy traffic in my Passport this weekend. I drove into Chicago and experienced heavy traffic going into and leaving the city, probably at least an hour's worth of time was added to my overall drive time both ways. I was incredibly disappointed with how the ACC and other powertrain & braking Honda Sensing features functioned, I never had any similar concerns while using the Eyesight safety system in any of my Subaru vehicles. Subaru Eyesight was unequivocally my favorite thing about my Subaru vehicles whereas Honda Sensing is something that Honda WILL need to improve drastically in the future. Everything about my Passport is a major step up from what offers Subaru except for Honda Sensing which is a major letdown and at times a major source of frustration.

the passports adaptive cruise control is useless. The exact same thing has happened to me several times.

the best ACC system I’ve used so far was the Eyesight from my 2017 Subaru Outback. Never failed, worked flawlessly.

I had ACC in my Civic (2018 Sport Touring) and really liked it. I can NOT say the same for the Passport - way too touchy; slams on the brakes/mashes the gas. OK in low or moderate traffic; not so much when you really need it.

I traded in a 2020 Civic for my 2023 PP. ACC on the Civic was far superior and smoother. I have no idea why they dumbed it down. Also on the PP, if stopped at a red light, you can’t just hit resume and be taken right back up to your former cruising speed like the Civic did. Extremely disappointed.
