So i just purchased my 2026 Passport Trailsport Elite Blackout last Saturday and the finance guy tried all of his tricks to get me to sign up with the Hendrick AutoGuard warranty. Granted the Honda dealership where i bought my car was a Hendricks owned Honda Dealership.
I said i wanted to think about it and i knew i had at least 3 yrs and 36,000 miles to add an extended warranty if i wanted.
What struck me as odd was this guy swore that the Hendrick Auto Guard warranty was 'better' and covered more things than the Honda Care.
He even went as far as to say that the standard Honda 3 yr / 36,000 mile warranty didn't cover as many items in year 2 of ownership as it does in the first year. He said year 3 covered even less.
Now i'm a fairly intelligent person and do my due diligence BEFORE ever stepping foot in a dealership.
Everything that i have read online at Honda Corporate, online forums, and even in the Owners Manual that came with my car that i read through online before i ever stepped foot in the dealership said NOTHING about there being "limited" coverage in the first 3 yr / 36, 000 miles.
To go one step farther, i even called my local Honda dealership and spoke to someone in the service department and asked "If i came into your dealership in year 5 of owning my Honda and had a mechanical failure of the engine and i told you that i had a HondaCare extended warranty vs a Hendricks AutoGuard warranty" would it matter or would i get the same level of coverage?
He said that with HondaCare there would be no questions asked and it would be covered. If i had the Hendricks AutoGuard he would have to take lots of pictures and write up something and send it over to AutoGuard to see if they approved it.
Now i know that AutoGuard offers extended warranties thoughout the auto community to different auto manufacturers so i know they are a big company.
What say you current Honda owners? What has your experience been and would you consider HondaCare vs AutoGuard?
