It is a much nicer vehicle than the Passport
I respectfully disagree. It is a very similar, yet different vehicle which is 6" shorter than the 3rd gen Pilot. We traded our '16 Pilot for a Passport because we loved the vehicle but didn't want or need the 3rd row seats any more. The 4th gen Pilot will increase in size over the previous models. The Passport fits the bill perfectly for those who don't need seating for 7 or 8, but still want the power, relative size, ride, & looks that the Pilot delivers. Passports & Pilots are both excellent vehicles that fit specific niches...

Other common owner/forum complaints that Honda has addressed in the redesign of the 2023 Pilot including:
Pilot Trailsport model includes full size spare tire. EX-L & Elite still has space-saver spare :-(.
Pilot Trailsport model includes 18-inch Continental TerrainContact AT tires (many forum members including stevenD, Gray_Beard, Driv3r, Werlyb23, btric74, LanceJL and others HIGHLY recommend).
Honda-build 10-speed auto replaces the 9-speed that everybody complains about (too many members to list on this one!).
Pilot includes front (& side) camera for those parking in garages - no more tennis-ball-on-string (Gatorgibson, carpayments4life, Prodgirl)
New paint colors!!!

The Passport has/had a niche (hey, I bought one), but lack of Honda support is slowly making it underwhelming & outdated by comparison.
Maybe that's just the ultracrepidarian in me.

How dare you disagree 😂

just kidding.

By nicer I meant better Technology, the new Honda sensing, camera, much better interior, captain chairs in the rear, standard tow package, higher ground clearance, panoramic roof.

The list goes on and people will buy it for all these reasons over the passport.

I hope they keep the passport for another generation but there is a lot stacked against it.

Well described! I will also like to highlight trail rated suspension, front & rear recovery points, factory installed hitch and skid plates on the Trailsport trim of the 2023 Passport.

The third row can fold flat but I don't like the fact that the Trailsport trim cannot be had without the middle row captain chairs, a 60/40 bench would have helped in keeping the 3rd row seats permanently folded. However it's just a couple of inches wider than the Passport and ten inches longer plus factory hitch so I don't think it's too big.

The only thing all Passport lovers like me can hope for is for Honda to allow all of these features to migrate to the next generation of the Passport...that is if Honda does not drop the Passport from its lineup altogether.

While there are certainly exceptions, the overall tendency of CUV buyers is not to cross-shop two- and three-row models.

First time I will come across the Honda Passport being called a CUV. The CR-V certainly but the Passport described as a crossover is novel. 😆
Meanwhile Honda describes both the Pilot and the Passport as Mid Size SUV.

Passport is a unibody design, therefore it is a crossover.

With no spare tire at all included with so many vehicles these days, I'm happy with a space saver tire. :)

With that said, I've needed a spare tire once in 33 years of driving and that was 20 years ago when I hit the unfinished edge of the road in a construction zone one night resulting in a sliced tire and bent wheel.

The "unibody design is a CUV" argument belongs in the 90s when the modern CUV was born with the introduction of the 1994 Rav4 by Toyota. At birth the Rav4 was based on a certain unibody sedan called Toyota Corolla but I can't imagine the car Honda lifted to make the Pilot or the Passport...perhaps the unibody Honda Civic?
Time has moved on along with manufacturing processes, the delineation between an SUV and a CUV today are a mix of attributes like vehicle size, ride height, engine size/type, interior space, drivetrain and towing capacity. Both the Pilot and the Passport tick enough of the SUV attributes to qualify to be described as midsize SUVs.

Guess the folks at US News, KBB, and Autoblog didn't get the memo

Report says Honda will introduce a midsize crossover SUV with the Passport name - Autoblog

The ultimately more important NHTSA got a memo from Honda but they crash tested and took apart both vehicles before agreeing that both the Pilot and the Passport are mid size SUV.

The equally as important IIHS that is funded by auto insurance companies also agreed.

The IIHS also says the Ridgeline is a small pickup even though their protocol states that it is a large pickup based on its curb weight. :)

There are always more than one metrics used for these determinations. Alongside the fact that the pickup environment is a more complex space that elicits a wider range of public emotions and government policy guidelines in the U.S. That is why European manufacturers have had little luck in figuring out how to get their pickup trucks built in plants in Europe, Brazil and South Africa granted permission for sale in the U.S.
