I wonder if these teaser pics are a preview of what the Passport could eventually look like. Honda Pilot Trailsport

2023 Pilot Trailsport review details significant changes in the Trailsport model vs rest-of-2023-Pilots. 1-inch longer springs, retuned struts, off-road anti-roll bars, special Trail drive mode differentials, TrailWatch camera system for camera views in front and side of vehicle (and a 360-degree view system!), Skid plates for front & fuel tank, Continental TerrainContact 18-in tires, and more.

Significant improvement over Passport's Trailsport decal option.

Anyone else see the off-road test drive posted today of the still camouflaged Honda Pilot TrailSport? Legit skid plates, front and rear recovery points, better ground clearance, off-road tires, and more. I may have just found the replacement vehicle for my wife’s Odyssey. I know this is a Passport forum, but I really like what Honda is doing with the Pilot Trailsport. Hopefully, I posted the correct link below.

Front and rear recovery points along with the skid plates (front skit plate IS a recovery point) and full sized spare tucked up underneath are big wins for me! My concern is the longer wheelbase of Pilot vs Passport already and the new Pilot has an even longer wheelbase. Might not work some off road places not to mention impacting turn radius (which is great on the pilot and passport!)

Front and rear recovery points along with the skid plates (front skit plate IS a recovery point)
All press information released to date emphasize that the Pilot Trailsport includes front & rear recovery points on the Trailsport, and that rear recovery point is detailed as:
"Out back, the trailer hitch acts as a centralized rear recovery point, as its high-strength (50,038 PSI yield), half-inch-thick steel plate for its safety chain hook ups can also be used as recovery points and rated for double the GVWR of the Pilot TrailSport."
That leads one to conclude that the Trailsport will come with a factory installed hitch (and even possibly, like the Ridgeline, a factory installed transmission cooler?).
Without a factory (or dealer-installed prior to delivery) OEM hitch, Honda would not promote that the Trailsport has a rear recovery point.
Hoping this is another (Pilot) Trailsport trim piece of equipment that trickles down to the Passport as well. Factory installed hitch and transmission cooler (y)

You sign up to get the latest news and a dealer calls you lol

That would be nice if it was standard equipment. They do make a cool tow hook hitch thingy.

Passport will not see any significant upgrades until the redesign in a few years. I would suspect it will have all or most of what the Pilot will have.

I am not a fan of the super high-on-the-dash infotainment centers, I like them lower and intergrated into the dash...

I respectfully disagree. It is a very similar, yet different vehicle which is 6" shorter than the 3rd gen Pilot. We traded our '16 Pilot for a Passport because we loved the vehicle but didn't want or need the 3rd row seats any more. The 4th gen Pilot will increase in size over the previous models. The Passport fits the bill perfectly for those who don't need seating for 7 or 8, but still want the power, relative size, ride, & looks that the Pilot delivers. Passports & Pilots are both excellent vehicles that fit specific niches...

Other common owner/forum complaints that Honda has addressed in the redesign of the 2023 Pilot including:
Pilot Trailsport model includes full size spare tire. EX-L & Elite still has space-saver spare :-(.
Pilot Trailsport model includes 18-inch Continental TerrainContact AT tires (many forum members including stevenD, Gray_Beard, Driv3r, Werlyb23, btric74, LanceJL and others HIGHLY recommend).
Honda-build 10-speed auto replaces the 9-speed that everybody complains about (too many members to list on this one!).
Pilot includes front (& side) camera for those parking in garages - no more tennis-ball-on-string (Gatorgibson, carpayments4life, Prodgirl)
New paint colors!!!

The Passport has/had a niche (hey, I bought one), but lack of Honda support is slowly making it underwhelming & outdated by comparison.
Maybe that's just the ultracrepidarian in me.

Well described! I will also like to highlight trail rated suspension, front & rear recovery points, factory installed hitch and skid plates on the Trailsport trim of the 2023 Passport.

The third row can fold flat but I don't like the fact that the Trailsport trim cannot be had without the middle row captain chairs, a 60/40 bench would have helped in keeping the 3rd row seats permanently folded. However it's just a couple of inches wider than the Passport and ten inches longer plus factory hitch so I don't think it's too big.

The only thing all Passport lovers like me can hope for is for Honda to allow all of these features to migrate to the next generation of the Passport...that is if Honda does not drop the Passport from its lineup altogether.
