Anyone have a third party alarm?

Curious if anyone has installed a third party alarm system. I am mulling over whether this is worth it or not. I was researching on this site and I read that if your windows are smashed it will not sound the factory alarm. Only if the door is opened. I used to have a 2 way Viper and I liked the confirmation for things like remote start etc.
Thanks!

In my opinion alarms in general are useless. Aftermarket alarms are even worse. They get spliced into factory wire harnesses and create havoc in the long run or sometimes right away. Alarms don’t deter anyone that is determined to take your stuff or car. They’re more annoying and problematic than useful. Again just my opinion.

Yes Honda security system does not have a shock sensor but I'm yet to come across anyone that installed a third party alarm for post 2015 Honda cars and that I imagine is because the on board is suitable for most situations, in most cases hoodlums smash windows in order to open doors. Nevertheless, I'm sure a third party alarm like the Viper can be installed if you desire having a shock sensor. If you do get one make sure it's installed by a technician with Honda experience else you may end up with electronic gremlins. And you must make a mental note to give the car's battery special attention, the third party alarm is an additional drain, the two way Viper system is a major drain.

I personally have a pager alert and tracking system on all my vehicles. The disadvantage is if you are far away a smash and grab cannot be prevented or attended to. I also have various safeguards that prevent my vehicles from being started even with a key or fob.

Good news is the hidden cameras catch them in the act. Bad news is (in the US) most smash and grabs and grand theft felonies are treated as a misdemeanor. What I mean by that is even if your vehicle is recovered and the perp is caught there is not much that can be done to put them behind bars or get compensation.

All my tracking devices are all hidden and pretty much foolproof until the vehicle crosses the border. As anyone knows, once a vehicle gets into Mexico or Canada you are on your own if you want it back.

Best to keep your insurance up to date rather than buying a noise maker -- IMO.
100% this!! I also pay a little extra and very high deductable for my insurance to get full replacement value including accessories installed.

Something to note is no matter what you install or lock up a desperate criminal will figure out how to steal it.

On most of my vehicles that's what I have. On the Passport it's a little different. I have a detection circuit that activates a battery disconnect when anyone other than my wife or myself try to start the vehicle. This way the battery is always connected and no need for having to reset it.
