Looks like a twin of the 2023/2024 Pilot. Honda will probably just delete the third row and rebadge as Passport. No surprises.

 

By the look of the A-pillar and the door mirror, it looks identical to the new Pilot.
However, the rear bumper area doesn't seem to be shorter.
I wonder if Honda is testing a new engine option? Maybe using the Acura RDX turbo 4?
Looks like a new infotainment system with larger display?

Here I combined a Pilot on top of the spy photo and you can see the length is identical. Slight difference due to camera distortion but overall very close.

 

Thanks for the Pilot overlay, it brought out the body hiding under the covers. I wonder if Honda is going to keep the fake exhaust port on the rear bumper?

The size of the shell of the infotainment display looks the same with the Pilot but this one is curiously missing the volume knob, maybe that's what's giving the impression of more screen real estate. If Honda places the volume knob on the dash like it did with the new Accord then the screen could be bigger within same shell. No indication of a knob on the dashboard right now though.

 

Looks a little taller but it really looks like the Pilot which im disappointed with. They really need to give it it's own look and not like the 2nd place for a Pilot design

I think what they were saying is that the article creator is using pilot information such as pictures and trying to pass it off as if it were the passport, clickbait artists are known to do this.

These are very valid points because the automobile press sometimes publishes clickbait stories on high interest vehicles or topics.
However, Motor1, Auto Evolution, Motor Authority and a couple of other car sites published spy shots of the 2023 Pilot from early 2021 to mid 2022 and those pictures look different from these new Passport pictures as attached below. The fabric used to hide the body panels was cut and hung in different ways and the wheels are different.

Nevertheless, could these new shots still be the same 2023 Pilot that was being tested then? Certainly. Seems rather too early to be testing the 2025 Passport when the 2024 Passport has not even got a foot out the door.

But judging from it's design antecedent, how else do we believe the 2025 Passport will look like? I think it will look like the Motor1 spy shots.

I don't think that's a Passport at all. If there's an exhaust port, it's fake.

 

What's clear is that in this stage in the game, they're not using the mule to test fit the panel gaps. It's all the stuff under the sheet metal at this point. Look at the diff between the spy shots even on the Pilot above and what really came out. Lots of exterior changes happened. This is likely to make sure the mechanicals that are different from the Pilot are in good working order.

Agreed! I can understand this time since built the Passport from an existing Pilot, but this time they have a chance to style the next Passport different enough so that they may appear similar, but not look like twins.

 

Honda's plan seems to be to use as many parts as they can from the Pilot, Ridgeline and Odyssey; that way they can keep their costs down...

 

Again, back to minimal effort, minimal sales.

 

The 10 speed/ DOHC is of course the shoe in candidate for the Passport. Hopefully they are working on something else. The Proluge was supposed to be the stop gap, but may be delayed, if delayed too long it kinda becomes irrelevant.

 

I think this is indeed the 2025 Passport. Of course it's going to parallel the Pilot; that's its purpose - a smaller, 2-row Pilot. That's not going to change in the near future. Here was an earlier render of the 2025 Passport...note the same wheels (the wheels are often a giveaway of the spy shot - they're usually matte black versions of the actual wheel). The earlier posted Pilot spy shots showed the production Elite wheel.

 

Honda should employ the guy/team that did this render. Add (real) rear exhaust outlets and more tire rubber and it will be perfect.

 

It would be kind of nice if the Passport ended up being something different, not just a shorter pilot. It would be interesting if they made the new Passport a bit more performance based. Maybe a Cool Dad Mobile vs the Pilot Dad Mobile, a bridge between Honda and Acura!

 

Making the Passport a Cool Dad Mobile will steal some of the MDX market so it will never happen.

 

 

At least in the Passport 3 taps on the brightness and it's off. I do that pretty often actually. On most Hondas its pretty easy to turn the screen off.

 

Whether we like it or not, Tesla changed the game with minimalistic interiors. From a manufacturing and maintenance/service standpoint, it's brilliant, but from a design/usage standpoint, it's boring.

 

I have friend with Teslas, I'm not trying to knock them, and I know their faster than most I.C. cars but boy are they boring IMHO. I couldn't see myself paying to actually own one.

I have a 2019 Elite PP with 36k miles, yes I was a first adopter and I've been very happy with my Elite which has been completely trouble-free since driving it off the dealer's lot. I'm considering getting a new one but with the news that a complete rebuild is coming in 2025, I'll await details and more imagery.

 

Depending on what they are doing with the design. I do hope better approach and departure angles and definitely more ground clearance.

36K miles, dang better dump it before something starts to go wrong..! LOL, just joking, I just turned 33k on my 2019 Touring and with all my additions, I'll just be watching from the sidelines... I paid something lie $39k, for mine, and would be lucky to get low $20k's, meaning I'd need to add $30k for a new Black Edition (No Thanks...!)

I do think it will largely mimic the revised Pilot, so if the 2024 Pilot is redesigned, you can at least check out the interior, as Honda will be re-using it for sure!

 

I’m with you. I have a 2020 Touring and I paid around What you did. I only have 21k on mine. I’d like to retire in about 6 years, so new cars are out. Unless something happens and I need to replace it.
