What's up everyone. Im new here.. Just got my 2021 Sport about 2 weeks ago.. im loving this ride so far! I traded my 2019 Rogue for this Passport, best trade ever. I do audio installation and I'm definitely looking into doing a simple upgrade on speakers n the sub. So far I have in mind either Hertz speakers with a Hertz sub for the current factory sub, or Morel Maximo 6 speakers and a kicker sub. Looking into doing the kicker key 4 channel amp n the kicker key monoblock for the sub. So is the oem sub an 8" or 6"? I thought it was a 6".. I mean you can't go wrong with an 8!

Read through this entire thread. Is it worth upgrading just the sub? Thinking a Fosgate slim sub. I had a 10" Fosgate sub in our 2017 CRV and miss the extra bump.

So I am trying to put a under the seat subwoofer in my 2020 passport Ex-L. Now my question is...is there an adapter you can buy to be able to use the factory wiring harness? I know the elites and above have the subwoofer already installed and I didn't know if the Ex-L had the same wiring or not. Thanks for any help!
it probably is going to be tight i replaced my factory sub but factory sub is only 8in.its just a regular female connector

I replaced my speakers and sub also and added an amp,the sub is 8in. View attachment 10632
Are you happy with the results? Is it a 5 channel amp to push the 4 speakers and the sub? How do you have it set up? I’m planning on upgrading the system on my EX-L, but a 240 watt system does not seem to cut it. Any advise will be appreciated.

Did you check out what Crutchfield says will fit in your EX-L?

Yes, I did check on Cruthfield. Although Crutchfield is specific about size, not impedance. So, that leaves me with a question. Do you know the impedande on the PP Sport/Exl speakers? 4 ohms or 2ohms? And….could I run 2 ohm speakers to replace my factory speakers with the factory head unit?

Yes, 2 ohms will work fine, as will 3 or 4 ohms, you will just have to turn the volume up slightly, depending on the sensitivity. Audison makes a 2 ohm set that people here have been VERY happy with...!

Has anyone tried installing an amplified(powered) subwoofer box (leaving the factory sub untouched)? Can this be done?

I just installed the Audison 2 ohm component set. The woofers were 2ohm, but the tweeters were 4ohm. I asked the audio shop and he told me Audison sets always come with 4 ohm tweeters. I also replaced the rear door woofers with the same 2 ohm Audison woofers as the front doors. I did not want to install the tweeters in the rear. I found just the woofers on Amazon as a "non-retail packaging". Arrived in one day and included screws etc., but no paper work. I am very pleased with the results. But done for now!

Cool, please tell us more about the differences in the upgrade! (louder? clearer? more bass?, etc...?)

Much clearer throughout the entire range, highs ,mids, and bass. Not any louder but I find myself listening to the music louder because there is no distortion. Bass is much, much improved, more "punch". Overall the sound is much "cleaner" , if you will. The new speakers complement the OEM subwoofer very well. I still am using the OEM center speaker though turned down quite a bit. I am also still using the C pillar midrange speakers. Not sure I need to do anything with them. Any suggestions?
BTW- I took the audio shop's advice and used the Stinger Roadkill Fast Rings RKFR6 foam rings to reduce panel vibration and to increase mid-bass response. Available on Amazon for $17. I had already installed Kilmat sound deadening in all four door skins and door panels. I also put in Soundproofing MLV mass loaded vinyl mats under the mats in front, rear passenger, and cargo areas. Sound deadening the doors made a huge difference. The MLV mats seemed to help reduce road and tire noise. Though I have about the quietest all-season tires you can get. All in all, I am very pleased with the results. Going on a 3000 mile road trip in Sept. It will be a good opportunity to enjoy the new setup.
PS- I did use use Metra harness adapters, and Ai HSB524 speaker adapters to install and hook up the four woofers. The Audison tweeters fit right in the OEM rings with just very minor filing to clear the leads. They snapped right in. No hot glue necessary. Look real clean.

Oh, installed the tweeter crossovers but set the switch to off which sounded better to me. Followed the audio shop's advice and did not install the woofer crossover.

Awesome review and I'm super glad you also see the HUGE advantages of sound-deading the (four) doors (along with the Fast rings (which I also did).

If the rear Mid/tweeters sound ok, I'd leave them alone, not sure who even makes a high-end mid-tweeter antway. I also left the center channel hooked up to the OEM system, but have it turned all the way down....
