I would also argue it's both. The "crossover" term was coined by the auto industry simply to distinguish a vehicle with some SUV-like features, but on a unibody platform. Now I see that people want to reserve the "SUV" term strictly for body-on-frame. But the features and capabilities of the two types are very blurred at times, especially for a vehicle like the Passport.

Fully agree. Nobody really defined the term SUV to begin with and both, SUV and Crossover, are equally applicable to the Passport and similar vehicles.
