Wireless phone charger

Hi gang,
I had my 2020 Elite in to fix the crackling entertainment system ☹ and let the dealer know that my wireless phone charger doesn’t work. He said it doesn’t charge iPhones. How stupid is this Honda? Anyone else have this issue?

Is it turned on in the system settings? Mine works fine on my iPhone 14, but you do have to position the phone properly.

Interesting. My charger goes green, never charges and flashes green in about 30 seconds. Doesn’t charge my iPhone 13 mini or my old iPhone 12. Does the phone have to be below 80% charged to activate the charger?
It will charge an iPhone, but its design is so faulty that no one ever can make it work reliably. Any movement, i.e. normal driving, will make it lose it's connection and not work.

I ended up making a custom mount using my 3D printer and a magnetic wireless charger off of Amazon. Works 100%.....
My 13 charges fine - but I usually wire it so I can use carplay - although I am thinking of getting an adapter so I can dump the wire

Yeah, with all of the USB ports I don’t bother with the POS wireless charger. I was just curious if the dealer was giving me a line.
MY 22 Passport Elite charges my iphone SE and wife's XR just fine.

My 13Pro charges fine on my 2019 Elite. Just have to make sure the top of the phone is toward the driver.

Yes, it stupid. It’s a first world problem, but if you’re going to charge to put it on as a feature, it should probably work with the best selling smartphone out there, right?

Bought the Touring model so I could add the CD player, because with the Wireless charger option on the Elite, you could not add the CD player.

My thinking was, if I wanted to use Apple Car Play, I would need to connect via USB anyway and :that" would charge my phone...

Also: I also recall that the wireless charger did not work on older iPhones, but not sure what which versions worked and did not work, you can kinda figure that out by peoples responses here, I guess...

Have S9+ does not charge. Many have the same problem. Unplugged mine. Use a plugged in pad.

My 2019 Elite charges a Samsung S9+ and iPhone 11 wirelessly just fine. Both must be positioned a certain way (to charge and see the indicator light)... same is true for both devices on the two different wireless chargers in the home.
Note: A thick protective case - or one of those pop-out attachment on the back which help you hold it - can interfere with wireless connection.

Guess I have a lemon.

Huh. Did not think of that! I have a 2021 Elite and have whined (to anyone who will listen) how the wireless charger does not charge. I have an iPhone XR with a thick OtterBox cover. I've also bellyached about how the Bluetooth regularly cuts in and out on the Elite. So I resorted to using a wire for AppleCarPlay the past few weeks.

Interesting! Thanks for the note.

Update. I had a Honda Odyssey loaner, ( brand new 2023 490 miles) for a couple of days while the dealer fixed the entertainment system on my 2020 Passport Elite and the wireless charger wouldn’t t charge in that either. I guess the Apple leather case on my IPhone 13 mini is too much for these poor excuse for wireless chargers.
PS Glad I didn’t buy an Odyssey. I guess I don’t identify as a soccer mom.

Instead of guessing, maybe remove the case (temporarily) just to see if it makes a difference?
I find the wireless charger in my Passport no better or worse than the Samsung and Belkin wireless chargers in my house.
I have a thin Spigen case on my Samsung S9+ and a thicker UAG case on my iPhone 11, both phones fast charge fine on all 3 wireless chargers, as long as they're positioned correctly.
IIRC, wireless charging would not work with my old super-protective Otterbox case - too thick, and not work with spouse's phone with the back-side popout holder thingy attached.
I got one of the new Samsung S23+ phones. Battery is phenomenal, thing holds a charge for days. Even after 3-4 days I'm still at 40%. I have a wireless charger on a bedside table and one in my study so I never need the one in the car. And if I'm doing an extended trip in my car I'll just plug the darn thing in.
