Well 2nd year in row on Christmas that I had windshield issues. Last year it developed a crack along the bottom edge and no rock chip was found. Safelite epoxied it and thought it was a stress crack. Well Christmas Day I was turning onto a road and hit a bump while I was turning and we hear a noise. Thinking it was the sound people here talk about with the suspension noise I didn't think much of it, Well a few minutes later my wife says is that a crack in the windshield and sure enough a double wide one right down the middle. Went we got to where I could look it starts at the very top above the camera and snakes down, 2 parallel cracks about 1/2" apart. Again when I run a razor blade over it you can't feel a crack on either the inside or outside. Definitely stress related, so a new one is on order. Oh well. Happy New Year to all....

took a run to the dealer yesterday, the one where I purchased the EXL. Showed the service manager the crack and that no damage from impact could be seen or felt. He then noticed the crack in the lower left that happened last year (and had been repaired by Safelite) and said due to that repair they won't cover the windshield. I questioned his reasoning but just got the "two step" answer. He then asked when I wanted to make the appointment for them to replace it and what insurance I had, and I told him no as they farm out the repair(don't know if the shop they farm it to uses OEM glass or not). So, being I have full glass I will just go next week to Safelite and get a new one. My biggest issue because the PP is registered in NYS is getting the replacement stickers so I don't get stopped when I head back up there. Just more paperwork and back and forth with DMV. Oh well, Happy and Safe New Year to all!!!!!

What that dealer told you may violate the Magnuson - Moss Act if you are in the US. A dealer cannot refuse warranty work for another repair or modification unless they can prove your other work caused the need for the warranty repair you are requesting them to make. Sometimes, mentioning this to them politely is enough to get them to do the work.

You might try another dealer, but I would have asked that dealer how they can justify that they would have warrantied the windshield except for your other repair that should have no bearing on the other crack. Ridiculous and a sign of a creepy dealership who looks for any excuse to get out of warrant work. The sad part is, many of these major car brands penalize the individual store or dealer for warranty coverage, motivating them to try to get out of it.

I understand that I could fight with the dealer but with all the new cars that I have owned over the years Honda (a 85 Accord and the 20 PP) has been the only manufacturer that I have had issues with warranty work, 2 different dealers with the PP. One of the best was Ford, again maybe the dealer(s), but they would give a loaner (even for oil changes) and basically no questions or run arounds. Also Saab and Hyundai were very good. Maybe the problem is that I have had more issues with the PP that I felt needed warranty work than any other vehicle except when I bought GM junk. I have given up fighting them and since I have full glass and Safelite has nationwide warranty coverage, for me it was a no brainer.

I had my RSX for 10 years and never got a windshield crack. Got a rock hit a few weeks ago on the Passport which necessitated windshield replacement. My theory is aerodynamics. Driving a sleek low riding car vs the bus like qualities of the Passport. We have a ton of MDX rolling through the shop with rock chip/cracking windshield replacement as well. One guy has a 2021 and already three windshields! Something about this body style.

PP went in yesterday for the new windshield. $750 for the glass $600 to recalibrate the camera, Dual method, whatever that means. Took just over an hour. It was amazing that now the new one is in how "scared up" the old was. Driving into the sun on my usual route home I didn't have the usual reflections. Talking to one of the techs who has worked for Safelite for 8 years told me that the worst is Jeep Wrangler followed by Tundra. He said they see their far share of Hondas. His take is that the newer ones are thinner to save weight and manufacturing costs. Still bothers me that both times there was no impact divit and both cracks seemed to be totally internal (stress?).Oh, lets see how this works out. Now to try to get a new NYS replacement inspection sticker thru the mail...this is going to be fun.

Do you have the OEM 20 inch wheels? Maybe you should consider switching to 17/18 inch wheels if you do. I've read on several Honda forums including those of Ridgeline and Pilot, how having less rubber between the vehicle and the road makes the ride harsher. Harsh ride and rough roads may be contributing to your windshield issues... Just a thought.

Seems another member has a similar observation about windshield scaring. 👇
