Since you don't list your location I would suggest that you give this a try.

In my location there are 3 Elites, 1 Touring and 2 EX-L AWD Passports available.

Houston, TX. Finding Elites is easy. And finding FWD Touring is easy. AWD Touring are non existent. The Honda inventory search tool is useless as you can only search by zip code so you have to keep looking up zip codes in nearby states and it won’t let you expand your search easily.
I bought my AWD Touring in April and at that time it was hard to find in the Finger Lakes region of NY. I do know when I bought my 2016 HRV in July of 2015 (released early), Honda was being more strategic with sending AWD models to the northern US and FWD stayed south. People that wanted an AWD in more southern states had to special order for one. I'm sure that's not what you want to do and you might end up waiting for a 2022 if you did, but it's an option.
Otherwise, I would ask dealers in your area to see if they could trade for an AWD or keep you on a short list if one is coming in.
The red is rare up here too. And if the interior had the option to be black I might have waited for one.

IMO, If I am a Honda Dealer, I probably wouldn't stock many Touring AWD since there is only a $2500 difference between that and the Elite. Just a quick look around Texas, I see them less than $2000 apart listed on Cars.com. Also, IMO, the Elite is probably worth $2k more and I can easily see how a customer could be convinced to go to an Elite over an AWD Touring.

But that’s the whole point. As others have called out in other posts, the ventilated seats are noisy and don’t accomplish much. when I test drove an elite I thought the windows or tailgate were open as there was so much wind noise. Turned out it was the seat ventilation fans. It was so loud even the audio system could not drown it out. So then it’s a $2k upgrade for auto dimming side mirrors. I’m convinceable only if I can get substantial $ off the elite.

I understand. My wife has an MDX. The cooled seats are noisy but they sure are nice in Texas when I use her vehicle. Drowning out the audio system might be an exaggeration.

Heated steering wheel, less painted plastic, and wireless charging are other considerations on Elite price difference.

As you know, you are more likely to get a deal on an on the lot elite versus the ordered AWD Touring or the one off that you may find.

Good luck.

The 540w (stock) stereo on the PPE is nothing to sneeze at. It sounds good. It's not custom great but it's good.

Southern states are not going to have an abundance of AWD Passports other than the Elite trim since that comes standard with AWD. That being said that trim is hard to find even up here in my area of Wisconsin.

I agree, lets not get silly about the noise that the ventilated seats make. I notice mine when I turn them on but not beyond that, to suggest that they drown out the stereo is a little out there. The normal HVAC on the lowest setting causes more noise than the ventilated seats.

It is one of the better factory stereo systems I've ever heard, to include branded systems.

Hey, Kook, if you ever are back down visiting OC, lemme know and I' give ya a listen to how an upgraded Passport stereo sounds ....

1,360 watts over 9 channels, about $5k in speakers... it can drown out most anything....!

That investment should kick az. I/We travel to OC at least 1x a calendar quarter visiting ALL of our family that still live all over the county. My mother in particular lives in Tustin. We're headed back again for a long, last w/e this August. I don't know if I'll have time to take you up on that offer on that trip but I would certainly like to hear your set up on another forthcoming trip. ✌🏼

Touring has this system as well. One of the reasons I went up to Touring vs EX-L.

Differences between AWD Touring and Elite advertised:

Cooled Seats
Heated Steering Wheel
Wireless Charging
Black Wheels
Rain sensing wipers
Auto Dimming Mirrors
LED Front Row Map lights

Suttle Differences not advertised:

Elite has gloss painted window trim, front and rear bottom valance, and the black streak in the middle of the real lift gate. It is just black plastic on Touring.

I live in the Denver Metro area. Schomp Honda in Littleton, a suburb of Denver has quite a few EX-L's in stock.
Silver , Gray , & Black . All have AWD

Piece of advise, at least if you are planning on keeping the Passport longer than the three years 36000 mile warranty, make THIS a dealer supplied tool as part of the deal from the dealership. It's a transmission lock release tool in case your Passport is ever in a non start condition.

No one ever wants to have problems, but the wise man prepares in advance. Besides, they used to go for $50 on flea bay, now they are $200-$300 from the online OEM Honda parts suppliers.

They should have been included equipment from Honda like the jack, tire wrench etc, but they are not. It makes for a great incentive to buy item that hopefully you, or a wrecker driver, will never need, but if you do at least this way Honda, or a Honda Dealership supplied it.
There are 5 Touring AWD Passports in Saint Louis.

Bommarito Honda has 2. Modern Steel and Black Copper
Napleton Honda has 2. Scarlet and White
Mungenast Saint Louis Honda has 1. Blue

Here's a red Touring AWD in western Nebraska...bit of a drive from Houston and they probably won't deliver for free ;) It's been on their lot at least a month. We test drove it several weeks ago just to get a feel for a Passport, but ultimately decided on another color. Matthew Ray was the sales associate we met with; seemed like a straight-up guy.

I bought my Touring Passport 8/1/21 it had just come in. I went on a Saturday and drove it home the same day. I’m in Connecticut and I did a 50 mile search and I see 16 Tourings in all colors. You should work out a deal fly in and drive home.

I’m in the Twin Cities in MN. I just used the inventory link posted earlier and I see there are some red AWD EX-L’s up here. It’s near impossible to find a FWD in this state. I think you’ll have to fly North if you really want one. I’ve worked with Buerkle Honda and they’ve been great!

I leased a blue 2021 Touring Passport from Rapids Honda in May. Blue because I wanted gray interior. They were good - paperwork wasn’t as smooth as at Buerkle but people were great.
