love that 23,000 miles later I just noticed this! Any ideas what it is for?

When you are near a safety cone or obstacle, a beeper goes off, so you'll be careful.
I turn off its green light when I pull into my garage, so that the beeper won't sound.
If it's on and its light is green while you're at a drive thru, it will continuously beep.

It's the parking sensor switch. There are 6 sensors (1 at each corner of the car & 2 in the rear center) which will detect and warn with an audible warning when you get too close to an object. Honda gives you the option to have this warning on or off. It is operational when lit. The 2 front corner sensors are set to warn you when you get within 26" of anything when you're in forward gear
& going less than 5 mph. All 6 sensors are set to warn you when you get within 45" of something while in reverse and going less than 5 mph..

I believe it is described in the manual. That being said, my son turned it off once when going through a bank drive up and I had to ask him what he did to turn off the annoying beeping. Lol. Since I learned that little trick about three years ago, I turn it off whenever I go through a drive-up of any sort. Be sure to turn it back on again or the backup camera won't work.
