Warranty Aftermarket?

After purchasing my Passport about 3 weeks ago now, I've gotten quite a few Extended Warranty letters in the mail. They are rather vague with deadlines that I need to call them on. I'm guessing these are just private companies trying to sell me ext warranties on my Passport. Not sure anyone else is seeing these?

I'm in Texas, so maybe a local thing. And wonder if they are even worth looking into. I've only once bought a warranty on a new auto, '12 Ridgeline. And I know now I overpaid and only got back a portion as refund after I traded her in with only 10 months ownership. I rarely see a reason to buy ext warranties on brand new autos'. I don't keep them past 50k-60K miles at most, if that. peace, e.

In many states, the DMV records are public information. These warranty companies collect that information to see who has a new vehicle, and start the mail and phone call campaigns trying to sell their policies.

If you are thinking at all about an extended warranty, only consider the factory backed Honda Care in my opinion. I bought an 8 year, 120000 mile $0 deductible plan on line for $1345.00 for my 2019 Pilot.

If you only keep them 50k-60k miles, then there may well be no reason to buy one.

I purchased Honda Care warranty ( the only way to go as far as warranty is concerned ) from Hyannis Honda
7 years and 80000 miles zero deductible $840.

Wow that's an excellent price - how much did you haggle to get that?
The online sellers are basically non haggle from what I found. You submit your information on their website and they give you their price right off the bat. Three I checked were all within $50.00 of each other. One was several hundred more only because they were in my own state and taxes had to be added.

Thanks for the info - may consider it after purchase. Do the prices go up as you near the end of your factory warranty?

Price will definitely go up as you near end of three year warranty. Purchased mine a few weeks after PP purchase with 400 miles on vehicle. Actually purchased from my dealer who matched Hyannis price.

Not only do the prices go up, but the coverage limits for time and mileage are shorter. If you purchase before your car is 6 months or 6000 miles (I believe is the cut off) you can get up to 8 years and 120000 miles from in service date and mileage starting at 0.

You also get a free rental car/loaner whenever you have to take your vehicle in for any warranty work when you purchase Honda Care. No limit of having to have repairs that take a certain amount of time, you get the rental/loaner when you drop yours off.
Thanks for posting this guys.

I've bought quite a few extended warranties on a number of cars and ALWAYS should not have. I did NOT buy any extra warranty for my PP..

Honda's are one of, if not thee most reliable vehicles, my advise would be to talk that money you were gonna spend on a extended warranty and open a NEW checking account and use checks to pay for the repairs that the warranty would have covered. And I'm reasonably sure that at the time that warranty period is over, you will still have money left..

Wow... I have Honda Care. I have the 8 year 120K plan... It was like $13-- something and I thought it a good deal at the time. I didn't know it included a "loaner" during any repair? Very cool if it does!! Tell me more!

Yes, any warranty repair will automatically allow you to receive a rental vehicle of up to $35.00 a day for up to 6 days per mechanical breakdown or factory warranty repair service.

If the repair time is 0.1 hours to 8.0 hours, they are allowing 2 days with a maximum allowance of $70.00.

It's all listed out on page 3 of my Vehicle Service contract booklet that I received from Honda.

I just picked up my new Passport Touring this past Saturday and of course the dealer tried to sell me on an extended warranty for $1700 for 60000 miles. Damn new threw up in the F&I office. Went on line to Hyannis Honda and got a 5yr 80000 mile HondaCare warranty for $680. I'm thinking that's just a tad bit better deal.

went to the Hyannis website see no extended warranty offered online..........

if you have the warranty link available please post.. I will buy from them

thanks
I emailed them at [email protected] inquiring about both the Hondcare warranty and the Hondacare Maintenance programs. They replied with the quotes for both. You will be dealing with them over the phone to actually purchase the programs. Well worth it if you are interested in extended coverage.
