I have a 2020 Passport EX-L awd with 35720 miles on it. For most of its life this vehicle has been smooth as glass driving, transmission shifts smoothly and has been a joy to drive. At right around 35500 miles i notice a slight vibration/quiver through the steering wheel and in the gas pedal. It happened going 25-30 mph while i was lightly using the accelerator to maintain speed. if i gave it a little more fuel it seamed to go away or if I let up on the throttle. I also noticed it at other times and speeds when your basically keeping speed limits. Sometimes it would feel like you were on a rough road when you were on a nice paved road. Usually giving more throttle would smooth it out. As this progressed (or I noticed it more) I could feel some engine vibration on moderate acceleration. I feel fairly certain that it is coming through the engine/drivetrain possibly the mounts.
I took it to the dealer, the first time 2 techs said they felt something like i described. I took it back the following week for a Master Tech to look at it, he didn't seem to feel it. I was told they looked the vehicle over checked mounts and scanned the vehicle. The service Advisor said to ride it and let him know if I continue to feel the vibration and to try to give more information as to when it happens.
I want to buy this unit as it is a lease, already bought the Honda Care extended warranty. It has been a wonderful vehicle up to this point.
Has anyone else had this happen ? Any solutions?

How old are the tires ? Last time wheels were balanced / alignment ? Recommend starting there. I bought a new 2022 a couple of months ago and quickly discovered that all 4 wheels were not balanced -- certainly a quality issue.

The tires are crossclimate 2 they have around 20000 miles on them, I will start by getting them rotated and balanced,
The trany shifts smooth between P, N, R, and D. Overall the trany shifts very well both up and down.
The dealer checked motor and trany mounts (so they said). I am considering changing trany fluid, but dealer mentioned that it should be changed around 60000. It really feels to be light throttle application. seeing that it does it at varying speeds, not sure that an out of balance tire would do that, but i have them checked.

The zf9 nine speed doesn't have a "shutter" history, but your issue might go away with a transmission gravity drain & fill, with a cold engine.

1. make sure you can loosen the fill plug on the top of the tranny.
2. remove the drain plug.
3. drain and replace the plug (32 ft/lbs torque) You don't need a new washer and may see that there is not one to begin with.
4. pour 3.5 qts of OEM Honda tranny fluid and then add 2 more ounces.
5. put the fill plug back at 32 ft/lbs torque.

The 2nd gen 2012- 2018 Acura RDX has a know shutter issue. Speed up to 55 mph and ease off the gas, then slowly speed up to 62 mph. You'll feel the tranny shutter.

It's the VCM cutting cylinders. You will hear a tone change from the engine too when it goes into 3 cylinder mode. And of course when you have 3 cylinder engine, it will vibrate a little more than a V6.

I never experienced VCM ever activating below 45 mph, according to my ScanGaugeII. YMMV

Does the shudder also occur when in "S" mode or only in "D" mode? If it occurs in "S" mode, try to keep track of what gear it occurs in. Using the paddles, can you repeat the shudder by repeatedly shifting into and out of the gear the shuddering occurs? This information may be helpful to the techs trying to diagnose the problem.

You have never driven hilly mountains. VCM can activate at any speeds as long as the load is under certain conditions.
Happens to me the most is uphill, high rpm, and then varying throttle to maintain speed. You will hear the engine goes ghrrrrrrrrrr and vibration can be felt through the steering wheel and pedals.
More throttle it goes away, less throttle it goes away too. It has to be within certain throttle position.
