Interesting and sad. Never seen this thank goodness.
VCMTuner 2 (www.vcmtuner.com) is a product that is installed in the engine bay and will disable VCM. There is a lot of good info on their website about the history of VCM, the problems it has created, the lawsuit that Honda lost over it, etc. For our Passports, select the ‘VCMTuner II 2007+‘ model.I'm interested in learning more about this tuner you speak of CaveGator .

I didn’t install it right away, but waited until I hit 5K miles, changed out the break-in fluid for full synthetic, and then put it on. Just remember to remove the VCMTuner before you take it in to Honda to have any work done on it. Don’t give them any excuse to blame something else on whatever problem pops up in the future. Thanks for your expedient reply!
Are you currently running it?
I'll check it out.
Thanks

So I am getting 20mpg with essentially a 4 cylinder vehicle on the highway? Maybe it doesn't work on mine...First of all I love my 2019 Passport but I along with my local Honda dealership have discovered a major engine issue. When you drive on the highway the vehicle automatically reduces the number of pistons firing in order to improve fuel efficiency. It does this whether the vehicle is in or out of the Econ mode. Sounds great right? The trouble happens if you do a gradual slow down and stop at a junction. Sometimes the vehicle stays in the reduced piston mode and then the check engine light flashes and you have reduced power! The fix - turn off and then restart the vehicle. My Passport is now at the dealership for a major warrant repair after it did this three times over a period of time. The problem can occur in the Ridgeline Pilot and Passprt vehicles but it is random. Anyone else have this problem? Time for Honda to do a recall.
