Are the notoriously bad 9 speed transmission issues fixed (or at least minimized) by using ECO mode ?
To me, it smooths out the quirky tendencies of the transmission, especially around town.

btw, savagegeese on YT reviewed the Pilot and did a good job of explaining the issues with the 9 speed.

I can't feel any quirks in either of my 2021's. All transmissions from one manufacturer to the next shift and perform differently. I did watch the Savagegeese review. I think he's the best vehicle reviewer on Youtube.
Did you catch his statement saying if he was in the market for an SUV, the Pilot would be his first choice.

Yes, and I agree, which is why I bought mine. He also said the transmission was the one major problem he had with the car. Hopefully he will do the PP soon as well.

I personally do not think so. From what I understand ECO mode is only using 3 of the 6 cylinders so overall performance is going to be greatly diminished.

Passport does not have a ECO mode, its the ECON mode. You are comparing apples to oranges.

ECO mode was on the 2015 and earlier Pilots. It was tied in with the VCM and displayed when in 3 cylinder mode.

ECON mode on all Passports, 2016-current Pilots has no connections with the VCM operations. VCM is completely independent and only changes with how hard you are on the gas peddle. ECON mode deadens the throttle response, and changes A/C compressor operations to get a little better gas mileage.

Correct, my post title should have said ECON, but most people understood.
The mode also affects the transmission behavior, along with A/C and throttle.

I do notice throttle issues almost all resolved by the use of Econ mode. There is still a disconcerting delay from park to go, like at a long stop light or train, but other than that it is much tamer than when I got the car and had S mode on and Econ off a lot. The transmission software also is alleged to learn as we drive, or so I have heard. Whatever it is, I find it much more smooth and predictable in most scenarios than when new.

How would just fluid changes make your Passport run smoother? Did they use different fluids than the originals??
I would hope the manufacturing plants use the same oils and fluids they use when we get our car serviced. But when you get a new car and the engine and everything breaks in a lot of metal fragments can get in the fluids and start messing stuff up over time. I figure if I flush out all the break in fragments early isn't a bad thing. I plan to have my car longer than most people own their cars on average so I'm gonna do what I can within reason to make it last longer.

Mittcherrr...........I would like to believe you but what you say sounds like something that applies to engines and transmissions manufactured many, many years ago. Can you point me to something in writing from a reliable source that states "a lot of metal fragments can get in the fluids and start messing stuff up over time" and best practice is to change fluids before they're due to be changed?

Honestly I couldn't point to anything in writing. My only reason I started doing this with new cars is that a mechanic I know was talking to me about it and they changed their fluids on a new car after around the first oil change and the fluid were pretty dirty. I am not suggesting replacing fluids early for every change. I think everyone is misinterpreting what I've been saying. I am only changing my fluids early the first time because of the engine break in. After that you should be fine changing it for what the manual recommends. But if you watch the video I posted earlier with the rear dif thats never been changed it shows how much metal builds up in the fluid. I was feeling that same lag in the tranny with my passport that everyone else complains about. So when I went for my first oil change I asked them to do my tranny and rear diff also. I'm not an expert. But I did drive my car for 10k miles before I did this. And I can say my passport feels a lot smoother when I accelerate and the gears switch.
