Transfer case fluid

Follow what the reminder tells you.
Mine reminded me to change the rear diff around 15k give or take and then every 30k after that.
The transfer case is usually done with the transmission fluid around 60k give or take.
The darkness of the oil has nothing to do with the condition of the oil. The only way to determine is to do an UOA.

Yes, my manual has this table;

I guess my question is then when is the B3 code expected to show on Minder, at what mileage? Clearly it is not at 15K. I'm just trying to find out if these statements saying that the Transfer case should be replaced at 15K are right or wrong.

Thanks,
From people here who have seen the code 3 it usually shows up around 60k miles as I mentioned above.
First code 6 is around 15k miles and then every 30k miles after that so 45k, 75k, etc...

In my case getting the B16 done should be free of charge, including the diff oil and labor. When I bought it in April 2023, they said the car maintenance is covered for first 2 years from the dealer. I guess that's how they trick you into buying the car for for money initially.
I mean it's not that much of a work to do it but if you are under a maintenance program then sure. Make sure they use the correct fluid tho. Some dealers would try to substitute OEM fluids with something else and it can cause issues.

Yes, I understand that. That's why I said by the time I treat code B16 I will be over 15K and code3 is not shown yet. Ok, not sure then why these videos on youtube ask for 15K on Trans case fluid. I'll see and I may do it with my next Engine Oil change just to be safe.
It's okay to go a little over. You car is not gonna magically blow up if you go a little over.

Wow, really? I thought at the dealer they only use OEM fluids. The reason I decided to use Castrol 0W-20 is because a 1Qt of Honda brand Engine oil was $11.50 at my dealership and I needed 6 of them.

Are you saying that when you do oil change at the dealer they don't use this oil?
Nope they don't. They just use whatever the cheapest they can get in bulk which is fine for engine oil since it's already fully regulated. The diff requires special fluid from Honda. I have heard some dealer put "compatible" fluid in the diff before and it might work but no one knows what side effect it might cause.

Bummer, so for a sick guy like me, I cannot even enjoy now the two year FREE maintenance? This is bad. I never thought a dealer would do that.
It's fine. The V6 in the Passport is not particularly picky on engine oil. People use Walmart Super Tech oil and these engines still last over 200k miles without any issues. It's not a Ferrari.

How can one make sure they(dealership) uses the correct oil? You tell them to use "Dual Pump Fluid II" for the diff? Of course they will say we use OEM oil. This is more a matter of trust. Are you saying they ask you if it is ok to use a different oil? Don't think so, but then, I don't know for sure.
Just ask them what they use and make sure they put that on the receipt what was used.
