I live in NJ and was thinking of putting some winter tires on in the late fall. Do they make a 20 inch tire like the Tera Grappler? I know Tera Grappler does not make a 20 inch size but does anybody know where I can find a similar tire that fits the oem 20 inch tires? Thanks for replies.

There are a few in the factory size of 265/45/20 but I suggest going up to 275/45/20 for the extra width and protection from curb rash. The General Grappler AT3 is not winter specific but it is an AT tire similar, but not aggressive as, the Nitto Tera grappler. They are comfortable enough to use year round.

These tires actually have rim protection built-in. Much wider tread because of AT tire. The odd thing is this is the only size available for this tire in the US. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tire...RAT3XLV2&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes

Thanks MC4Saints, How does this tire feel when driving. Do you keep these on all year? Are they loud when you hit high speed? Sorry for all the questions but I think I’m gonna buy these and want to make sure .thanks

For a second set,, a winter set,, I would suggest a narrower tire for snow and ice. Studies show they hook up better on snow and ice than wider tires.
Just as I'd reccomend going with an 18 or 17" setup.
Better tire selection at a significantly lower price. Air down options. Better wheel protection.
The cash you save not having tires levered on and off each fall and spring will pay for the extra wheels in a couple years.

These are my permanent tires. I took off factory contis. Honestly, I would say the feel about the same as contis. These specific grappler AT3s seems to have a softer sidewall than preferred for true off roading based on reviews I could find. That fact and that they are slightly taller and wider than the factory tires make them feel adequately soft.

I don't think they are any louder than contis I had. I honestly didn't have a huge problem with the noise from the contis. That is the only reference I have in passport. Wife has an mdx with Michilen premier ltx and it is quieter but that is supposedly one of the quietest tires on the market on a quieter vehicle. Also, keep in mind the touring/elite trim passport have side windows with extra noise cancelling so that may be helping as well.

They feel fine driving as well. This is the widest tread to the road that will fit our vehicles. This specific 275/45/20 has wider tread than to the road than any other this size. It really feels more stuck to the road IMO. This is a tire designed to be year around.

The even better news is General gives a 45 day trial and tire rack will even cover return shipping if you purchase a replacement General/Continental tire rack. Continental owns General. Only thing you would lose is the cost of a second tire installation.

All that being said, mine is a FWD and I am in Dallas Texas. Likely, this thing will never leave pavement. The main reason I purchased these are rim protection in case I bump a curve and it makes the passport even look less like a Mom mobile/Pilot. No offense Moms 😁

Quite different needs than you but likely this is the best choice for you IF you want to run one set of tires year round. The best option for you could be to find some 17 inch wheels and winter specific tires and just swap them when needed.

Good Luck!

Yes. Pirelli, Hakkapeliitta, Bridgestone and Michelin all offer a winter 265/45R20 to fit the Passport.

I decided to purchase the General Grabber 275x45x20. I did some research on several brands. There’s not to many that fit the OEM 20 inch rim. I will be using these for 5 months out of the year. I will install them on October 1st. Midas near me mounts and balances the 4 tires for 69 bucks. Not bad. These tires got great reviews and I especially like the way they look on the Passport. Trying to get rid of that soccer mom look. I will be keeping my contis because of how smooth they drive. They only part I hate is the curb rash. Have some on the back left passenger side. I touched it up with some black touch up paint. Thanks for all the help ladies and gents.

How much did you pay for 4 General Grabber tires? What did you do with the OEM tires?
Sorry, don't remember exactly. The only place you can get them is Tire Rack. Whatever the price is in the link in my earlier post is what I paid.

I still have them. Need put them up for sale locally.

The only reason I didn't end up with a 265/50/20 AT tire is they rub on a FWD plus I do not think they add much rim protection versus Oem size because they are basically the same width.

Just the thread I was looking for! It's about time to change up my wheels & tires, and thinking hard about getting some 20 inch Black Rhino wheels.
