The Sweet Spot

I think I found the wheel / tire sweet spot. At least for me lol.

2019 Elite and I originally swapped the 20’s for 18’s wrapped in 265/60 all-terrains. They felt too heavy, like they were putting too much stress on the engine and plus they rubbed. Gas mileage also took a significant hit of about 1.5-2 mpg.

Sized down to 255/55 A/Ts and things are perfect. I measured the original stock 20s with the continentals and they were pretty much exactly the same diameter as the 255/55/r18 A/Ts.

Handles/feels great, looks great and no dip and gas mileage. I’m glad I sized down a little bit. Did some light to medium off Roading last weekend and it handled like a champ. No clearance issues even without a lift.

Here’s the new set up.

That's awesome! I have been debating for weeks on what rim/tire size combo to go with! what is the width of your rims?

I think you made a smart choice. Jamming the wheel wells with the largest tires that will barely fit has few benefits in my opinion, and causes a lot of problems. I tried to fit some very aggressive A/T tires myself at first, and am glad I decided against them. They rubbed in the garage pretty easily, so off road or over the terrible roads here, they could have bounced and really bit into the well liners over time. I also settled on 18x8, although I got an agressive H/T that is borderline A/T and really quiet. Does great offroad compared to many SUVs, but is not as capable as a 4Runner or Jeep (but way more comfortable and fuel efficient).

Agree 100%. It was a waaay harder choice than I anticipated, especially since I had the bigger tires already installed, but it was totally the right choice. The increase in functionality was beyond worth it.

Looks good. What’s the make and part # of the rims?
Agree as I have 255/60/18s and love how they fit and ride, and no worry of rubbing. To each their own, but am quite happy after having them a few weeks.

What is the H/T tire you got?
