The Expected Delay Due to Traffic is...

At random times whenever I'm going somewhere, I hear this message over the audio system.

It would make sense if I were using the navigation system, but I'm not.

Am I the only one hearing this? Is there a way to stop these notifications?

I get it to. I think it is providing updates because thinks it knows where you going from history. Do not know how to turn off but would love to know.
Thanks
The navigation audio may be coming from one of a few different sources that may be active. Your vehicle's screen may not be displaying the active navigation source that is providing the message, so you'll need to check...
  • In-car navigation system, if standard on your trim.
  • Google Maps
  • Waze
  • Apple Maps
  • Others navigation app
I think I found the answer. In the Nav setting there's a on/off setting for traffic notifications. I switched it off and I think that will take care of the problem. I'll know for sure the next time I go somewhere.

"Traffic Information" setting is only enabled when the in-car system is navigating. If off or disabled, you will not get the benefit of route optimization if there is traffic on the original calculated route?

Thanks, I understood your statement but not the question that follows it.

If you turn off Traffic Information and using the in-car navigation, it will NOT give you the option to detour if there is traffic on the current route.

That's good to know!

I'm still wondering though why I'm getting delay announcements when I'm not using the navigation app.
Presume that you've updated the system software to the latest?

Verify that no navigation apps are running on your phone, if connected? If confused me when I accidentally had multiple navigation apps running simultaneously.
I haven't attempted to update the software. Is that done automatically over the air?

The PP's navigation is the only one I currently use.
Update via USB or WiFi... via your home's network or cellphone's hot-spot (only if signal is stable and good speed). Check the Owner's Manual (download a copy, if you don't have one). Allocate sufficient time for the update to be performed. This is the first page of the section...

Thank you for the info. I was able to download the clock update via WiFi and so I should be able to take care of this one too; although I'm not much of a techie. o_O

Another question? Was it correct in that there was an actual traffic delay on your route? Or is just picking up traffic situations on adjacent streets, highways, roads, etc? Or does it just totally miss the mark and you never come across these delays? Just curious.
I never saw a reason for it to be announcing that there would be a delay on my route.

I wasn't using the navigation at the time so how could it possibly know where I was going and which route I would be taking to get there?

GPS navigation's traffic information would only be for traffic delays directly on your route.
My display was freezing . Honda fixed that issue but immediately after doing so my navigation system no longer functions . Now I have to take it back again
My 2019 Touring Pilot will announce an "expected traffic delay" at times even if I am not using the navigation at the time. It will usually be within a few miles of the delay, or if I am using the navigation with a set route, will even announce it well in advance of getting to the area. If I push along the top right of the radio screen it will tell me where the delay is and how long of a delay expected. It doesn't offer a different route since I am not using the navigation for a set destination.

I get the same notification in my car as well. I'm not sure how to turn this annoying thing off.
