Storing your Passport

I'm about to leave on a 3 month trip overseas. I intend to leave my Passport in the Driveway in San Francisco.
Do I need to disconnect the Battery or something? Or can I just park and lock it?

Get yourself a cheap solar trickle charger/maintainer and leave it plugged in. Wake sure it faces South.
