Hi all!

New owner here of a 2020 Passport EX-L. Very excited to be a part of this forum.

I'm looking to get some aftermarket roof rails, running boards, and weather mats. I saw some people prefer Husky Liners over Weather Tech for the latter.

I'm looking for guidance on the above 3 items. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

I am fairly short and love my die-cast running boards. Very easy to self install with a minimum of tools. I bought the Honda weather mats, rear cargo mat and second row seat back covers. I'm very happy with the quality. No idea on the roof rails as they suck gas mileage and I don't need them. There was a thread on these earlier this week.

Hello V3, congrats and welcome to the Forum!

I can comment on a couple of your concerns:

1) I have the WeatherTech Floor Mats, the ones that cover the entire floor area and love them, can't comment on Husky's as I have had weather Teach in my last 5 cars!

2) I have (and love) the Honda Die-Cast Aluminum Running Boards and installed them myself in less than an hour!

Thanks for the reply guys! Any specific helpful video tutorial on the self install for the running boards? I'm pretty DIY-challenged and want to see if it's something I can do or if I'll need a shop to handle it.

This may be a dumb question but can you negotiate the cost of the running boards with Honda? Almost like when purchasing a vehicle in the first place? Or is it a set price?

Appreciate the insight on the floor mats!

congrats on your new purchase!

I've got the OEM Passport all weather mats, no issues. I live in SoCal, so we don’t talk about our lack of seasons...it depends on where you live though. Are you in snow and rain areas? If so, I’d look into the weather tech as they over a bit more coverage than the OEM.

And I preferred the black slim line running boards as they are cleaner looking than the die cast. And again, no snow or rain to make you slide when stepping on them. Also, I’m 5’ tall, so the few days I had to wait for the order to come in, I was climbing in and out. The dealer installed them along with the splash guards and mats (Holes needed to be drilled).

Thanks for the info! I reside in MD so we def get our share of rain and snow for sure. Therefore I've been thinking about the die cast running boards. Good to know about WeatherTech vs OEM mats. I wonder if the quality/coverage is all that different considering WT showed as $40 more than OEM and only contains front seat mats whereas OEM included backseat mat. Either way, doesn't seem like I can go wrong.

Thanks for the help! I appreciate it.

In MD, I’d for sure go with die cast and weather tech.

The die cast has that no slip grip on it. Take a look at some Ridgelines on the lot to see it. That’s what I did.

And the weather tech will go up higher on the all around coverage for the mats. If you have kids and other passengers, I’d go that route.

Here are some photos of the different looks.

Yes I'm definitely leaning towards die cast for the running boards.

Whoa you managed to link much cheaper floor mats than I saw on WeatherTech. The ones I looked at were $170. Maybe because those were floor liners instead of mats? I don't know. Anyhoo, this is great. Thanks for the quick reply!

Click the link in my signature for pics of the WeatherTech floor liners, running boards, and other accessories. Avoids having to post pics in many different places.

Welcome aboard!
Your car looks absolutely amazing. The pics of the floor mats is exactly what I was looking to see. Thank you!

Glad the pics helped. The WeatherTech floor liners are worth the extra $40. Go with the Honda OEM cargo mat, as it has the crease for easier lifting in the lower compartment cover.

Yeah, I cannot add anything that hasn't been said about our choices, OEM rails and crossbars, Die-cast runners, and WeatherTech, You won't be disappointed. I don't skimp on stuff. Of course you should work within your budget. I think the time to negotiate the cost of the running boards is past, some online retailers of OEM Honda goodies offer lower prices than some local dealers, your dealer may price match?

Costco members save 15% or more on parts, service and accessories for any household vehicle at participating service centers nationwide . Not all Honda dealers participate. The closest one to me does not, but one 8 miles away does. Many independent repair shops participate as well. You just have to search by your Zip Code. Once you select a dealer or shop, you print out a coupon and take it to the shop. I have used it to purchase several accessories for my PP. 15% and no shipping costs usually work out about the same as buying from an online store.

I did weather tech liners over Husky , to me they look a little bit more stock than the husky liners do. I’ve had weather tech liners in my past 3 vehicles and have no complaints. I also opted for the weather teach mud guards rather than the Honda ones , I saved about $20 and feel the weather tech mud guards/splash guards are a few inches longer giving more protection and more usefulness.
I also installed my own running boards I shopped around and ultimately wanted the die cast ones but couldn’t get a price better than $700 with the product and shipping involved , I did the instal myself. So I went to the plain black “passport” branded ones and found a dealer selling them on eBay , brand new for $375 for the set which was about $150 less than my dealer and they offered free shipping. Got them in 3 days later and the install took less than an hour. They don’t look as rugged as the die cast but they do give the car a much more finished and sportier look and they are actually functional.
