Before winter hits do a good wash and wax on the vehicle body to protect against and salt that might splash up on the vehicle.

Most body shops have a treatment they can spray on the undercarriage that is an oily substance that helps to prevent salt from sticking.

Water activates salt, so driving through puddles and still wet road will work with the salt to cause corrosion. As soon as the snow storm is over wash the vehicle including the undercarriage to get rid of the salt completely.

I always do my best to get the salt off as quickly as possible. I never go to car washes, I almost always hand wash and wax all my vehicles. If I can’t I go to a detailing shop. I asked the question because today I saw a ad for the product I provided the link for. After a short search on the internet I saw there are a few companies with a similar product. I saw hoping someone had some first hand experience with any of these products. One company talks about the abrasive qualities of the salt and how using a wash sponge or microfiber could actually scratch the paint which I have seen firsthand. This product removes the salt without any type of agitation and supposedly leaves a protective coating that makes it much harder for the salt to adhere and doesn’t remove any wax. 🤔

I usually go to my body shop and I do the dripless oil spray. He does the entire car. Do it to both Honda’s. No rust. I recommend it big time.
Thanks. Yes it’s called Woolwax. The product I put the link for is for the entire car, underbody and paint. And with the hand sprayers you could do it anywhere. Supposedly it very big with boat owners. Watch the videos they have.

How do you do a good wash on the undercarriage? That is the place of most concern with road salt. That is why I like and use the brushless car wash near me. The washing of the vehicle is a benefit, BUT the undercarriage wash is well worth it to me. I have a 20 year old PU that I have done the same thing to since I bought it new. The very first touch of rust has just showed itself on the right rear fender well right at the center edge of the well. The undercarriage shows no significant rust of any kind.

I use my pressure washer first thing in the spring. That’s why I am curious about this chemical solution. It can be applied with a sprayer and rinsed with one also. The sprayers extend so you can reach everything. I never use a car wash, brushless or other wise. Had one damage a brand new car in 98. Also my Passport has the roof rails with the cross bars and all the car washes don’t accept any responsibility for any damage, factory accessories or not.

About a month after I purchased my PP I did a under coating...but not your typical under coating that's sold in stores. I used this special type of undercoating its oil based and it lasts about 5 years give or take pending on the road conditions.

It's called NH oil.

Time will tell the truth about this product.

I did a little research and most commercial car washes Recycle the water used to wash your vehicle. So if your in the areas that use salt in the winter they are using water with the liquefied road salt in it.😳

A little update. I purchased the Salt Gone and it really works. I first did my full size work van and it did a good job without any agitation. I just sprayed it on and rinsed it right away( it was a cold and windy day). Yesterday I did my sisters 2013 Fusion it looked gray from all the road salt and dirt( it’s actually white). This time I let it sit a few minutes on the surface before I rinsed it. It worked amazing. And this time I dried the car instead of letting it air dry and it looks great. I highly recommend this stuff. Not cheap but it works. Salts Gone👍
