Rear view camera malfunction

I just wanted to throw this out there to see if anyone else has seen this. I’m approaching 5,000 troublefree miles and over the last week my review camera has started to malfunction where it just shows a solid green screen with the lane markers. I’ll also try to post a picture but just wanted to see if anyone has experienced similar issues before I call the dealer.

Did you confirm nothing got stuck to your cameras to make a green screen? It looks like a sticker or something is on there?

Also, try restarting your passport?

If neither of these fix it, look into the manual to see if there is a camera or system reset in the touch screen display. I think I saw something when setting mine up.
Wow, that's not good. Keep us posted. Good luck.

When it first happened I thought someone stuck a green Mr Yuck sticker on the lens (I know I’m dating myself with that reference) but the camera was clean and clear of any interference. In fact at first it was sporadic. Sometimes it would work fine, other times it was green. Over the last couple of days it’s just been green. I will take a look to see if there is any reset before I engage the dealer.

Ha! I haven’t heard about Mr. Yuck in a while!
If it was sporadic, I’d think maybe a cable or sensor is whacky.
Not even sure how to trace that issue.

Try the reset for sure. I am sure you dread the dealer as much as I do.
Have you tried changing the rear view angles using the buttons at the bottom? Not suggesting this as a fix, as it obviously needs to go to Honda for repair, just curious if there’s a different signal feed wire for each angle or if you’re losing signal on all three angles.

I did test the various angles and got the same result. I’m guessing there is a short somewhere that just needs to get fixed at this point.
Yeah I would imagine it’s the signal wire or the camera itself, hopefully this isn't going to be an ongoing issue for the passports.. sorry for your troubles, keep us posted!

?
I just wanted to report on the fix and bring closure to my rear view camera issue. The dealer did have to look at it and spend a good bit of time looking at the switches, electrical connections and the camera. Once they were done, they said that the camera needed to be replaced and they needed to order one. 3 weeks later, I finally had the camera replaced and all switches rechecked and it is back in working order. Glad it's fixed and while the technology on these cars are awesome, this is a good example that anything can easily break.
Great news DaveG that the fix was just a camera replacement and did not turn out to be some internal unknown cause that they had to dismantle the car to find. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
