The instructions for the OEM rear seat seem a bit confusing, especially the masking tape parts before all the drilling. Is there any reason they can't just be attached with industrial Velcro placed in strategic places around the perimeter of the protectors. Sure would simplify things.

If you are talking about 08P42-TGS-100B Seat back protectors then I do not believe so.

The instruction tell you to insert the snaps into the mounting holes and then put tape over them to hold them in place. The making tape on the back of the seat in the area of the mounting holes is to provide you with a way to see where the holes are to be drilled. The making tape is removed from the seat back after each hole has been drilled.

If you are not feeling confident in mounting the seat back protectors you might want to refer to this at the top of the instructions.

Velcro does not have near the holding power, plus stick on velcro peels easily in the heat, and we all know that vehicles get hot in when parked outside in the summer, especially in the sun. You could try it, but don't throw the instructions and parts away, I suspect you will need them.

You're right.... It's the putting the masking on the seat back that was confusing. But of course to able to see where to drill. That makes perfect sense. Thank you!

See this thread regarding the confusion with the masking tape.

?

Even with the snaps installed, I need to be careful when unfolding/raising the seatbacks. I've caught and bent the setback cover outside bottom corner several times. I think that using industrial strength velcro instead would only make the issue worse.

After I read and reread the instructions several times, the only PITA was tracking down an 8mm Rotabroach bit and holder to cut through the spot welds. I found one on Amazon but that was a year ago.

The corner on one of my seatbacks catches, too. If your PP has sliding (fore/aft) rear seats, remember to slide it up one notch to avoid the interference?
