I have purchased a 2021 Passport EX-L from an auction, it has 25000 of mystery miles. Break pedal is looking okay, not warn or anything , haven’t looked at the break pads. I nave no idea who owned the car or how it was driven, not much in the car fax history. I plugged my trusty OBD2 scanner (veepeak) to check for any skeletons in the closet and not sure how to interpret the scanner data. Can someone help me decode what does this mean in respect to how the car was driven ?

no codes were found of course, but then I wonder if the computer was cleared?

What is the number of warmups since DTC was cleared ?

Warm ups since Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) was cleared indicates the number of times the car was started without being driven since the previous owner/service tech cleared error codes the vehicle displayed. The issue you should be concerned about is not if the computer was cleared but if the errors indicated were fixed before the DTC was cleared.

As far as Carfax is concerned, not everyone reports services and accidents to Carfax especially if the owner does his own service, however, if I'm buying a vehicle as expensive as the Passport and it has up to 25K on the odometer, seeing evidence of an healthy series of services performed will be quite reassuring. I want to see regular oil changes, tire rotations and rear differential fluid change at 15K miles.
The Carfax result should at least have the name of the original dealer, you can approach them, tell them you are the new owner and request the vehicle's service history. You can also Google the VIN, sometimes that brings up pictures of the vehicle in a salvage auction yard if it has been previously involved in an accident and written off by the insurers before being fixed for sale.

Wait a second, I think I read it totally wrong, and though that the Codes were NOT cleared, but maybe you are right. Kinda confused now between DTCs and MIL... I though that the "computer was not cleared in (well ever) and it it registering the 255 cold-warm warm-ups and the total distance travelled (25400) since "hard reset" ....

what i read from it is that someone that had this vehicle did drive quite a bit, for starters if this was personal vehicle its got a lot of miles (25K since AUG 2021 until DEC 2022). and that those 255 warmups would translate to about 100 miles per "trip" which again is quite a lot, so I am not sure if I am reading this correctly.

I am not sure how to read this but maybe: " Distance traveled while MIL is activated"

is really this:

DIST MIL ON = Distance Traveled While MIL Is Activated: This parameter can be very useful in determining how long the customer has allowed a problem to exist.

Which is not bad, so maybe the car is indeed "clean" and not has been reset

WARM-UPS = WARM_UPS: This parameter will count the number of warm-ups since the DTCs were cleared. A warm-up is defined as the ECT rising at least 40°F from engine starting temperature, then reaching a minimum temperature of 160°F. This parameter will be useful in verifying warm-up cycles, if you’re attempting to duplicate a specific code that requires at least two warm-up cycles for completion.

I DON"T HAVE THIS ONE, BUT WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHAT IT IS =)
