How many of your wheels have Curb Rash (scrapes)?


I had 3 of my 4 OEM wheels with Curb Rash in the first 9k miles...

We haven’t scuffed ours yet (knock on wood) but we were driving normal sized trucks previously and our passport feels tiny by comparison .

I had one of my 20" oem wheels curb rash in Nashville. I had it refinished mid-December and it was done in 2 days. The cost difference for touch up paint ($125) vs full refinish ($175).

Had our 22 Passport 1 month before my wife destroyed the right rear wheel.
No intentions of repairing it so she can tear it up again.

OEM 20" wheels & tires
Not a single mark/scratch/scar on any of the rims, but 1 tire has a barely visible sidewall rub from when our Passport 'convinced' a raccoon not to cross the road at night.

I've had 18 inch Ridgeline wheels with snows on since the late fall. I'm convinced 18's are a good solution. I notice zero difference in handling and they will be much more forgiving if you hit a curb.

All four wheels (particulalry after a number of balancing services)... But I don't keep the vehicle clean, so I just dab it with black rim paint from auto parts store. You can't see the silver of the metal and becasue of all the dirt, you can't really see the mismatch of the paint.

One year and 15k miles on the OEM wheels on my Touring. One wheel has one small mark from a moment's inattention a few months ago. I've really been trying to be careful until its time for new tires, then switch to 18s.

I always keep a small black paint with a brush on the end and touch up any rash or scratches.

18” 20” doesn’t matter the wheels size if you’re curb checking your wheels it is driver error and that’s just my opinion. Never had a issue with any of my vehicles wheels.

I hear ya man, and there are plenty of others that never get too close, and I am happy for all of you.

I think my biggest problem transitioning to the Passport, was that I was driving a couple of little BMW's for 16 years prior (including a 2-door Coupe), they were so agile and maneuverable that I never had to worry about curbs and such, so the Passport was (and still is) a giant beast to me.... lol

Not everyone has perfect parallel parking skills so having more rubber helps prevent damage to the wheels because the tires rub the curb instead of the wheels. But that might sound weird to you if you belong to the school of thought that believes everyone should be able to drive manual gear cars...

I have not scraped them yet but I only have 3,600 miles on the PP. It's only a matter of time before they get something. I figure I'll wait for that and then look at switching to 18s.

Lol I learned how to drive manual cars and trucks before I had a drivers license and drove for the military 20yrs but it has nothing to do with anyones choice of wheels I have 20” on my passport and no curb checking etc. but who am I ?.
