For anyone who has installed the NOLO Mid-Skid Plate: The "inserts" that go into the hole in the subframe that keep the bolt in place.... say you have to take that plate off in 3 or 4 years for work to be done in that area... what keeps that bolt and insert from just turning in place and not allowing the nut to come off? I'm thinking that could become a real nightmare in the future.

Anybody have any experience with it? I have been a customer of Ian's since before he had an online store and I run his plates already... except for the Mid-Skid because of the possible problem down the road. I want to order it, but need a little more info from an actual user first.

Thanks for any help you can give!

I'm not familiar with the specifics of these skid plates but what I've done before in similar situations is to drill a small hole in the face of the nut/fastener and run a peice of stainless steel safety wire through the hole long enough that i can retrieve the nut/fastener if necessary. Hope this helps.

It does help. Thank you! I was considering tack welding the bolt to the plate the gets inserted in the hole as well doing something like you described. Still haven't made up my mind yet cause I most certainly don't want the bolt and plate to just "spin" inside the subframe should the nut become corroded onto the bolt. Thank you again for your reply!

Thanks for that. I was wondering the same thing, after installing that plate. Perhaps I should start another thread, but with the cat protector has anyone else noticed a change in the exhaust note? Mine is louder. No leaking that I can see, might be acting like a resonator. I called Ian, he said he'd heard that from one other person. Anyone else?
