Prospective buyer with several quick questions...

Hello PP community! I've been looking at the PP for a while now and really dig the car's size and engine. However, there are a few questions that I haven't been able to find solid answers to, despite my searching.

1. The Elite trim is advertised as having "additional soft touch materials" - where???
2. Is there a good third-party kit/hack for turning off the auto-stop/start?
3. Has anyone found any nice third-party options for improving the looks of the front grille?
4. Any rumors about new color or wheel options for 2021?

Sorry, I won't be a huge help, but here goes:
1. The Elite trim is advertised as having "additional soft touch materials" - where???
NOT SURE, I HAVE THE TOURING AND I THOUGHT THE TOURING & ELITE HAVE THE SAME INTERIORS, BUT THIS WOULD BE EASY ENOUGH TO CHECK WHEN YOU GO TO A DEALER, IF NO ONE KNOWS.

2. Is there a good third-party kit/hack for turning off the auto-stop/start?
YES, THERE ARE SEVERAL THREADS ON HERE ABOUT IT!

3. Has anyone found any nice third-party options for improving the looks of the front grille?
NOPE

4. Any rumors about new color or wheel options for 2021?
NONE

Good Luck and all I can say, that as an 18+ month owner, I still love driving mine (and I had two BMW's previous to my PP)...!

Whats not to like about the front grill? :)
And many have replaced wheels and tires for various reasons though color wasn't mentioned other than black for silver or vice versa.
In case you don't get to those other threads there is a button to turn off the auto stop/start but it resets every time you turn the engine off so is only a temporary solution - but free and requires no hacks or 3rd party anythings.

Thanks for the quick reply! Yeah I can't wait to go test drive one and check out the interior differences - the virus slowed down my car shopping adventures. Thank goodness you can kill the stop-start feature.

Would love to hear more about your driving impressions as a previous BMW owner. I have a 2017 X1 right now. Good car, but we need more space for family road trips. However, when we're not road-tripping I'm usually the only one in the car, so I still want a sporty "driver's car." Unfortunately, the 2-row mid-size class is full of bores like the Edge, JGC, and Murano. The X5 is out of reach for me, but the PP sounds like it might be just as fun.

The only "soft-touch material" I can think of is on the door where I rest my arm. My right knee wishes the center console was covered in the same stuff.
Test drive several Passports. Try to only drive the trim level that you want to buy. Hopefully, each PP will have nearly the same mileage, when you test drive them.

There was a difference between each of the 3 that I test drove (each with under 100 miles).
I chose the one with the best braking and emergency "swerve" response.

Haha, just looks cheap for a nearly $40k car, imo. I think they should have added some depth with a mixture of gloss and matte in the honeycomb, or at least they should have given the honeycomb a legit finish. But as it, it looks like something straight off a 1990s pickup and I can see it becoming a faded eyesore on thousands of PPs a decade from now.
A few takes on BMW vs PP. PP. is a bit quicker 0-60. Your X1 I am sure handles much better. Our X3 and PP are about equal as far as comfort and interior noise. BMW iDrive is much more user friendly
The PP infotainment is not bad. Personally, I like it. Apple CarPlay and Androod Auto are std. Some have chronic issues with the PP infotainment for which Honda has not come up with a fix.
Sound system in the PP Touring and Elite is better than the base ststem.in our X3. Interior fit and finish is MUCH better in the BMW as it should be as the X3 is $15k more. We have taken approx 3000 mile trips in both. We could flip a coin as to which we would take on our next long trip. X3 gets better mileage. PP has a lot more room. Hope some of this helpful.

We wanted the ventilated / cooled seats which are only on the Elite, they don't seem to work all that great. :(

The soft touch is on top of the doors and top of the dash board on the Elite.
I haven't been looking for any style or mechanical changes so can't help there. Nor have I shopped the 21s.
As for the AC that someone mentioned it doesn't get cold. It seems the compressor turns off for a bit when stopped and "auto-stop/start" is engaged. So it isn't creating cold air until the compressor kicks back on, which it will if you are at a long light or such.

From the manual: "When Econ mode is active, the climate control system may have reduced performance." The manual also says that the climate control system has greater temp fluctuations when in Econ mode.

2. There is an "off" button on the console. Third PARTY APPS? There is a dongle that I know of for GM. It tricks the computer.

Right. I meant to keep ASS turned off between trips.

Answer 2. The auto stop and start, there's a button for that to enable or disable.
