Good afternoon! I am looking to get some A/T tires for my PP. I live in NY and normally drive on the beach but will be interested in doing some light trails soon. I am looking for something that is 17 or 18 inch rims and of course A/T tires. As of now, not interested in a lift kit so will hold off but would like to increase ground clearance a little. Please post pictures of your PP so I can make a decision. I am not in a rush. BONUS POINTS IF YOUR PP IS IN SILVER! THANK YOU!!!!
You will have a hard time getting significant clearance boost without the lift. Even the most agressive tire that fit in the passport wheel wells without rubbing or locking only get you maybe 1/2", and most of those will rub.
Personlly I tried a Toyo A/T that was super agressive but it rubbed at the shop, and I hear similar from many that the really agressive treads may rub. You don't want to off road in my opinion with something that rubs on flat ground in the garage.
I switched to Continental A/T, a moderate A/T tread in 18", drove on them for a couple days, and then decided to switch to the Continental H/T in 18" since it is almost as good (it is a highway terrain with elements of their A/T treads) offroad and very quiet. There are several long threads on here of wheel and tires installs, with 18" probably the most common A/T installed. If you are looking for pictures I would search those threads out.
I think almost any aggresive H/T or any A/T you pick will serve for light duty and reasonable sand conditions.
