Piano Black Hyper-Dip (Glossy Plasti-Dip) on back emblems

I wouldn't have had the courage to "paint" my brand new car with spray paint without the group here, so thanks to all the pics and how-to. I went ahead and Hyper-Dipped using the brand new stuff from DipYourCar. Similar to Plasti-Dip but it has a glossy finish right out of the can. Wanted to show the gloss for reference. To each there own, but I like the more reflective finish than the typical matte finish from plasti-dip.

I was freaked out too!!
But a friend of mine did his crazy, stupid expensive Mercedes, and after that, I felt a little safer, but still tested mine inside the door frame to make sure.
My brother did his truck a couple weeks ago and called me beforehand and said, “are you sure about this” 🤣🤣

Looks nice. Question: how’s the durability with the paint after washing the car. I purchased an OEM trailer hitch which will replace the piano black rear lower mid center piece with a dual black trim cover. Wanted to keep the piano black color. Let me know. Thanks.

You may want to try the Emerald Metallic color if you're trying to emulate the piano black trim piece. I'm not sure the Piano Black spray will match the trim correctly. The pic below shows the contrast between the H with Piano Black HyperDip and the Piano Black trim piece. I believe car washes will be fine, but removing and reapplying is simple enough to not make it a huge sticking point.

Mine has held up with no issues for 2 years this mid summer.
One thing I didn’t catch so great and will if I ever do it again, was get the underside of the lettering extra good. When my tailgate is up, I can see some that I missed. It only annoys me when the gate is up, so not enough to go thru the process again. And make sure you can allocate 4-5 hours in dry, warm weather to the project.

When I put my hitch on, I got the flat black matte piece. It helped with the gloss...One day I will have all the piano black exterior trim wrapped. It’s just too shiny for the Passport.

Nice. I’ll definitely post and experiment. Because I know a lot of people including myself like the gloss black for where the hitch will go. It will be a Trial by error process. LOL :)
