Our 2019 Passport Touring (Canadian) is street parked (large city). Last night at 2am I heard a car alarm go off, but did not go our to check since the whole street is fully parked on one side, so I didn't really consider that it might be our vehicle. Shortly after that alarm, a different car alarmed as well. We keep nothing of value whatsoever ever in the vehicle, so as to not invite and break-ins.
This morning, when going out to walk the dog, we found our Passport with all of the windows fully down (not smashed in). Clearly some sort of electronic device was used to trigger some process in the car that would lower all of the windows. Not sure when the alarm would have started going off - perhaps when a door was opened by the would-be thief.
Our key fobs were well inside the house, far away from the front door and street. Perhaps we need to start using a faraday cage/box?

Anyone hear of this happening with the Passport and the possible means of accomplishing it?

Was the sunroof open too? If so most likely it was your key fob. You know, press unlock and then hold and then all the windows and sunroof go down.
Yes, the sunroof was open. I suspect what set the alarm off what that we have a carrier on the roof rack right now, so the thief couldn't squeeze in through the sunroof, and had to open a door (or some other reason because I guess they could have slid in through an open car window instead of opening a door).

Presumably this was accomplished by one of the fob schemes that involve signal amplification and hijacking. Hadn't heard of the Passport being susceptible until now.

IMO, because the sunroof was open it all points to your fob opening the windows and sunroof. From there some thief was looking for an opportunity with the open windows. I have had this issue several times with my Accord. Sometimes the trunk would be open but fortunately, I don't think that it has rained when the sunroof was open. Each time it was because the fob buttons were somehow pressed while in my pocket.

This isn't going to happen at 2am, when both me and my spouse were fast asleep, and our keys are not banging around in a pocket. All windows and the sunroof were rolled up tight in the evening (walked by it with the dog on evening stroll). It hadn't been driven for several days, and the keys were stationary for a long time, so i really don't think this is the answer.

This has not happened to me either. But what has happened is that the tailgate has opened while the fob was in my pocket and I was walking near the PP. Still not quite sure how that button on the fob gets pressed just walking around. ???

I learned to take the fob in the house, when I was working on my full size spare tire set up, after the hatch started closing on me, twice. I was reaching all the way in and must have had my foot where the kick sensor saw it.

I've had my stuff stolen out of my car before. Left my wallet in the glove box while I was playing basketball. Got home and forgot to take it out. Luckily they only took the cash inside of the wallet. Was a nice neighborhood too. Now I live on some land with a long driveway and a gate. So nice.

That is why my fob gets its own pocket. I have had change or my pocket knife push buttons on the fob from my previous vehicle. I especially hate it when the button that gets pushed is the Alarm button.

I've had this happen. Early on in the pandemic lockdown, PP had been sitting idle for 2 - 3 weeks in the garage. I go out to the garage one a.m. and there it sat. All windows down and sunroof open. Key fobs had not been touched in the middle of the night. My first thought was battery was getting low and triggered something. IIRC, there were a couple of instances where someone parked at an airport long term and came back a week later to find this condition.

I had this happen in a Lexus RX350 I owned. A set of keys in my pocket apparently pushed against the key fob button and rolled all the windows down and opened the sunroof. Someone came into work and told me "all your windows are down". I laughed thinking they were kidding, they assured me they weren't. I went outside in the rain, closed the windows and sunroof and toweled off the interior. Fortunately everything wasn't open very long. On my next trip to the dealer, I had them program that feature "off". I''m going to see if my Honda dealer can turn it off on my Passport.
