I can speak to an alternate reason why they aren't selling at OC Honda World in Westminster and it has nothing to do with the Passport. Skip to the bottom if you want to get to the point and don't want to read a long and sorted tale...
The moral of the story is that I don't believe OCHonda World in Westminster has the inventory they claim to have and even if they did, their lack of sales are the fault of a terrible sales experience and shouldn't be used as a criticism of the Passport. Do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere.
That's interesting David, I have a story about them as well: I contacted them thru their website, as I recall there is some button you click on to "Get your Internet Price" and a woman emails me, and we email back a forth trying to set up a Test Drive (this was on Friday, Feb. 1st - 3 days before they went on sale). So the woman asks for my phone number and we talk a bit about the Passport - I tell her that I simply want to see /drive one to determine if I wanted to buy one. We set up a time and she messaged me multiple times "reminding me of our appointment". Meanwhile I went to a Honda Dealer in Huntington Beach and did a test drive and sat in an Elite model with my salesgirl for 30 minutes or more checking everything out.
So when I get to OC Honda World I get approached by a guy named "Malek", I tell him I was here to meet this saleswoman and he tells me she works for him and he leaves to supposedly call her, he comes back and says she is on her way and will be here any minute. He leaves again and I'm checking out the Passport in their showroom. This time he shows me his cell phone, with her name on the call (which was weird - why is he showing me her name on his phone?) Then he tells me she can't get back and I can deal with him. I said I wanted to drive an AWD Passport (I drove a FWD @ HB Honda) and he goes off to get one, then I inadvertently wandered over to a display case that has copies of California Drivers licenses for ALL the sales people. So I look for my saleswoman and THERE WAS NO LICENSE WITH HER NAME IN THERE!
Right away, I felt, it was some creepy bait-n-switch, with a nice young sounding woman enticing me to come to the dealer - ONLY to have her mysteriously unavailable (after 3 emails, 1 phone call and 2 text messages) and I am stuck with the typical shady car salesman. So when he pulled up with a Passport and tells me it is FWD, I tell him never-mind and leave!
Next, I went to the YELP page for this dealer and there was another instance that they tried to do a similar bait-n-switch thing on another guy - So I am reasonably sure they pull this crap all the time!
I wonder if Honda Corp would be interested in knowing about the "Helpful Honda Guys" at OCWorld?
