My PPE is less than a month old and one of my black wheels got their first curb rash today. Made me sick to my stomach. It was that or running over a kitten. I am a sucker for animals...darn. I guess I will be shelling out $450 soon for a new wheel. Ugh! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Sorry to hear about that. For the price of replacing four of them, you could have purchased new 18" wheels and tires that don't hit curbs...

Gloss black should be pretty easy for a reputable wheel shop to repair good as new, usually for around $200-$250. Investigate that option before shelling out for a new wheel. And if you do end up going for a new one, check online since that price seems like full retail.

So, it's a 20" thing? Hitting a curb is hitting a curb, irregardless of the rim size.

I bought my passport used and it had curb rash when I got it. The dealership probably has a "wheel guy" they can hook you up with, after they fixed mine you can't even tell where the rash was.

Depending on how bad the damage is you may want to try repairing it yourself. That is what I did with one of my Touring wheels. Mask off to protect rest of wheel and tire, file the damage, sand with #100 then #220. , primer, then topcoat. Takes about an hour. Black is a actally easier than the pewter grey.

Ahhh...I will give it a whirl this weekend. Do you know the Honda color code for the black wheels?
Sorry, I do not. But others here on the forum have used Rustoleum Glossy Black with good results.

Logically, that may be the case, but 18" A/T tires STICK OUT further than 20" low-profile tires, so instead of the wheels hitting first, the tires do. But you knew that and was just being funny right?

Same thing (except for the kitten) just happened to my Touring in a parking garage. If someone knows the paint to use for pewter Touring wheels I will go for the DYI solution. I recall a Chris Fix video on YouTube that seemed to be easy enough.

Yes, just trying to be funny. I don't need a specific tire size to not hit my rims on a curb. My ex-wife on the other hand....She would run over logs in the middle of the street, never mind curbs.
