Just curious as I might be purchasing new 2022 that has crossbars and I'll want to remove them, are they easy to remove?

Just curious as I might be purchasing new 2022 that has crossbars and I'll want to remove them, are they easy to remove?

The cross bars have 2 screws on each side which need to be loosened in order to slide them on the side rails. The side rails each have a cap on the rear of them which needs to be removed so that the cross bars can be slid back & off the rear of the side rails. The most difficult part of the job whether you're removing them or installing them, is to slide the bars on the rails. They tend to hang up if you don't keep them perpendicular to the rails. It's a good idea to mark the rails for the exact location of the bars if you use them with a luggage carrier with fixed mounting points...
