Had a roadside chat with a rather large doe Sunday night while down in NC. Thankfully not a full frontal hit. She broke the internals of the drivers side headlight LED but not the Halogen Hi beam and pushed it back enough to damage the upper part of the fender. It also pushed the aluminum bumper bar back so that needs to be replaced It popped the bulb out of the turn signal socket, didn't break it but it is floating around in the housing. The impact also popped off the H cover over the camera but didn't damage the grill at all. I had to drive back to NY Tuesday so a 1/2 roll of Gorilla tape keep all the broken pieces together for the 11 hour drive. One thing I noticed was without the camera cover the EM braking system was much less sensitive than usual. In the past if I got within say 10 ft of the car in front of me it would trigger. Now it didn't activate until maybe 5 ft. Anyway other than the deer now one was hurt and the body damage can be repaired to the tune of $4516.50 per the insurance estimate....

Ouch! Sorry about your new machine being damaged. When my previous 2019 Passport was only two weeks old, I hit a social Pheasant on the Interstate at just under 80 Mph. That cost only $1400, but my baby was hurt and I was definitely NOT happy! Now driving a new 21 Elite and keeping a wary eye out for wayward critters.

Yes they come at you darn quick. Saw her coming but with the narrow roads there was no place to go…but as with you I was sick to my stomach when I looked at the damage. It actually was my first accident in 50+years of driving that requires a body shop.

Ouch on that cost!
I’ve seen quite a few deer and other animals lying on the side of the road, in my drives up here. 🦌

Sorry about your car. I'm surprised that level of structural damage (bent bumper beam) did not trigger the front impact sensors to activate the front airbags. The damage is quite bad but it could have been much worse.

The bent bumper beam kind of confused me also. When I looked at it I didn’t notice it but the adjuster did now maybe that was his way to cover my deductible but I don’t know the cars into the body shop now so we’ll see what they determine after they get everything apart. But yeah thank God the airbags didn’t deploy percent that was really scared the crap out of me

Sorry to read your story about hitting a deer. It was me hitting a deer back in June 2020 with my 2012 RAV4 that brought me to the Passport. I can;t imagine if you hit a deer now and trying to go out and get a new vehicle. I was lucky that there were PLENTY of vehicles on the lot. Totally different story now. Drive past some dealers that used to have tons of cars on the lots... not today...

finally got the PP back from the body shop. The delay was for a $5.00 bracket that holds a sensor(??) that is clipped behind the H. Even though I have had some issues I didn't realize how much I missed driving it. Had been using the wife's '19 Subaru Impreza and although a different class vehicle it is such a piece of crap compared to the PP even though it cost only a few thousand dollars less. I also now realize why there is only 9000 miles on it...because neither one of us enjoy driving it, Oh well all is well...for now.

Glad you are okay! Anytime I see a deer off the road, I always slow down, never know which direction those dumb animals are going to run. Again, glad you are okay!
I've seen a wreck where the deer went through the windshield and lots of the deer's blood poured into the dash of the vehicle. It was a totally loss via the insurance company.
