nav updates which usb port to use

Hi All!
I'm wondering about this because it says in the owners manual that the 2.5 usb ports are to be used only for charging. So, to do the nav map updates do I just put my usb stick in one of those ports or is there a special one somewhere and I just haven't seen it!

The one to use is the USB port in the dashboard.

Don't be surprised if your Garmin app identifies your Passport as a Odyssey, it will upgrade OK.
Thanks folks, I did the nav update and it did say it was for the odyssey, everything installed just fine.
I'm in the process of downloading the latest map update to my USB drive. (Wish I had a faster connection, projected time almost 4 hours!) The new map version is 2019.11.
A few weeks ago I updated my portable Garmin unit and it updated to map version 2020.10.
I wonder why the difference?
I have no idea why that would be.

I suspect there are different maps/numbering schemes for the different units. One reason that I plan to use my Garmin Nuvi for long roadtrips is that the maps are more detailed. I've gone a few places so far with both systems running to compare.
I still prefer using Google Maps.
Where/how do you get the map updates?

Thanks.

Ed,
Now we will have to remember next year that we used odyssey map update when the passport map update finally populates. I made a note to myself on my thumb drive.
You and Homer where very helpful as I navigated this update. My little guy is now a road scholar. Funny!

There is no USB port in my Passport Elite. Only the one below where the phone charger is located. Is that the one to use?

The USB port you need is under the flap highlighted by the pointer in the picture below.

Picture actually belongs to another member of the forum. I think they got some "His and Hers" situation going on.

The pic just got funnier to me because my wife and I have the same situation just less drastic. She wears a jacket when we vacation in Hawaii!
