As the title states, my Honda passport Trail sport was super glued by the Honda certified technician at south eastern Honda in Melbourne Florida. I brought the car in to have cross bars installed onto my roof rails. When I received my car back I saw that there was super glue markings underneath the cap of the roof rail and a trail of super glue leading down the roof rail with a finger print. I brought the issue up to the service manager and the general manager. They both lied to my face and said “we don’t use super glue here” then how did superglue end up on my god damn new car exactly where they worked.

You have two options to clean it up:

A fine easer ...LINK
Hot water and a fine eraser.

Having installed those myself, I can see how it’s easy to crack them, as I cracked a small piece off removing it and had to superglue it myself. Looks like they cracked a big piece and didn’t own up to it. Sleezy.

What absolute slimeballs. Have you gone back and let them know another dealer stepped up and did the right thing? And that they'll never make another nickel off of you? That level of disrespect for the customer is just unbelievable...

After having the other dealer step up and acknowledge the glue. The super glue dealer called us just now and offered to fix the issue. I will be letting the good dealer fix the roof rail and afterwards i will bring the glued piece back to the original service manager so he knows what super glue looks like going forward.

edit:The whole plastic piece can be replaced for like 50$. I can’t believe they wanted to die on a hill over 50$ crazy.

I've said it before, unless it's something that's just straight up beyond my capabilities or expertise I don't let anyone but myself put a wrench to my vehicles, I worked in the industry for 18 years and considered myself a professional surrounded by (mostly) misfits. (I've worked alongside drunks, drug addicts, and just plain disgruntled folks in the auto repair industry). I have also worked alongside other professionals, the trouble is you never know what your going to get. I get it not everyone has the ability or desire to D.I.Y, heck I'm getting old and can't do some stuff that I used to, but if your able and inclined the best job you will ever get is the one you complete yourself.

Yep, that's why I do everything I possibly can myself.

Getting a bit harder each year as I get older, but I had enough times that simple things were messed up by different dealers that I've convinced myself that they hired ex-con one-arms nearsighted drunks to work on their vehicles. For example: Twice, not once, but twice local dealers overfilled my wife's new Honda's on 'free' oil changes. And I don't mean a little. In each case it looks like the tech used the 'dry' fill number (as in bone dry capacity prior to first fill) rather than O+F fill. Extra 2qts in each just about. Add on untightened lugs after a tire rotation and other things and it is a comedy of errors.

Dealer pretty much does the 100K belt and pump and I usually take it to a big independent Honda shop for that instead.

IMHO a large part of the problem is paying technicians based on"flat rate" I.E. the shortest amount of time the factory claims the job can be done. If they rush, complete the job early and are able to move on to the next flat rate repair they make money. If somthing breaks, gets stuck, or they get slowed down for any reason, (like a delay in the parts department), the break even or loose money. This breeds fast/sloppy work. Some independent shops do it differently but I've never heard of a factory franchised dealer do it any other way.

I filed a formal complaint with Honda corporate over their website and then twitter against the dealer which glued that part. The dealers are independent contractors and Honda has little in the way of enforcement but that’s why I am here also blasting their reputation because they deserve a good dragging.
