We are looking at buying a new Passport. I use a 3-wheel mobility scooter and need to use a scooter lift to get it in and out of the vehicle (think small crane). The lift has an L-shaped bracket (about 16 inches long on each side) that bolts to the body. This bracket takes a removable post and then the arm with a motor fits on top of the post. With the pandemic, it is hard to just go look at the vehicle so I'm looking for photos and advice. I know the Passport uses a molded plastic storage unit under the panel and suspect there is also a plastic panel under the carpet on the left side. Can that be removed to get to the steel on the body? I realize there will need to be some trimming of the plastic if this is possible.

I currently have a 2012 Outback that has the lift. We had to make a steel support on the right side of the bracket where the spare tire well is located. I suspect the same will be needed for the Passport. Any advice or photos are much appreciated!

JBostrom - could you post a picture (or link) of the unit you are currently using?

Is it similar to this, shown in van/SUV application:

Interesting adaptation. Even found manufacturers have adapted Honda SUVs to wheelchair accessibility (pdf below).
