Yesterday I washed and for the first time attempted to wax my Lunar Silver Passport for the first time since I bought it a month ago. Strangely I noticed tiny black specks of something on the paint. Initially a few specks but then over the next hour found hundreds of specks. At first I thought tar or tree sap but the specks were also on side panels and there were no smears or streaks like if a droplet of road tar splashed on the car. Specks were all over the hood, sides and even back of Passport. So I spent the next 6 hours clay-barring the entire front , sides and back, missing only the roof. After a full day of detailing, 99% of the spots came out/off but a few stayed on, mainly where there were tiny paint bubble imperfections. At 2-3 tiny spots they look like paint blackheads....which leads me to think it might be paint issues.

Do you think this was a previous owner detailing/upkeep fail or has anyone else noticed black specks in their paint? Could this be a Honda paint issue? Any Lunar Silver owners with similar issues?

Wow, thanks for that find @cevwvu that's exactly what it looks like
You’re welcome. That was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw your pictures. I found out what they were after I put new siding on my house and we updated the landscaping with fresh mulch. A few months later I noticed these little black specs and I was floored when I saw what made them. Needless to say I removed the mulch and replaced it with stone. After painstakingly cleaning the spots off my siding they never returned.
Glad I could help!

This is a federal highway (hurricane evacuation route).

If you ever travel thru here be sure and stop at the First Freewill Baptist Church/ Bait, Tackle, Gasoline and Diner. Spend over $50 (American) and you will receive a discount on Fireworks (sold out back).

I believe you have iron particulate in the paint. Brakes can put particles in the air and, then onto the car, or by just parking the car outdoors industrial fallout can contaminate the paint. The particulate embeds in the paint and clay bars are not too effective for complete removal. I use a product called Iron-X. It quickly removes all particles of iron from the paint, as well as industrial fallout. Professional detailers use this before they clay the car. Here’s a link: https://www.amazon.com/Carpro-Iron-Remover-500-Sprayer/dp/B004UM6DLE
