Hi, Let me introduce you to my new Passport 2020 Touring with a bunch of accessories. I can't resist without Overlanding, so I think they are making the rig more "ruggedized" and neat than my previous CR-V. ✌🏻 3.6l v6 is also adding a lot into this "vibe"!!!

I was thinking of getting 4runner or Wrangler to have a more offroad capable truck after driving many different coupes, hatchbacks and crossovers all my life. Although, mostly, I'm hitting highways where if Overlanding, using only forest roads. 🌲 I decided that I don't want to have lifted, typical off-road rig with the aerodynamic of the brick and massive a/t tires, ARB bumpers and winch as my daily. Where I love the look of all those things, they overall exceed my needs. AWD also makes more sense to me, where I'm always feeling more comfortable when all my wheels can work all the time when necessary. Not only on dirt or in the mud but also on normal roads. Based on everything, I started looking for something in the middle... I met my Passport at the dealership and fell in love.

See you on the road!

Congrats and welcome!

Those were pretty the same as me (except I'd never consider a Jeep), I recently (July-2020) upgraded to some 18" wheels and AT tires, but I do a limited amount of "overlanding" when driving dirt roads when camping.

Interesting concept for your second photo...I like it!

Thank you! I'm just getting Nokian HAKKAPELIITTA R3 winter tires mounted today. The dealer was offering me 245/60 r18 but I've decided to keep the same rims. Going with a little bit wider 275/45 r20. (265/45r20 OEM) Probably won't go with a/t because of the traction on highways. Definitely, something to consider in the future :) Speaking about the second photo ... Instagram influencers inspired :D

You hit the nail on the head! I was looking at 4runners,Gx460, LX570, and Landcrusier for almost a year before circling back around to the Passport. Ultimately, the level of offroading I would actually do would be gravel/dirt roads as well. I also love the look of a fully modded 4runner, but MPG will suffer greatly.

New Nokians HAKKAPELIITTA R3 275/45r20 winter ❄ tires on board. Maybe somebody would be interested in getting similar size for their Passport so attaching photos below. What do you guys think? 💭

Do the tires stick out enough to reduce potential Curb Rash incidents?

I wouldn't say they are having a much bigger sidewall because it's only 0.2" (5mm) more so it won't protect your rims fully. Can say it depends on the curb lol Personally, I was looking for just bigger traction during wintertime and that's why decided to focus mostly on the width of the tires. Also, I was worried about rubbing... I've heard though about some people here going with 265/50r20 which will give you a much taller sidewall. They are equal too 265/60r18 tires -> same 3.4% increase in diameter where in my case it's just safe 1%.
