Key FOB lock sets alarm but doesn't lock door

Hey- I am a problem with my Passport. My husband tried to change the settings to the "walk away lock". Shortly after this, my alarm started going off at night about once a week. This is likely from people opening the car door and trying to steal stuff inside as sometimes people do check car doors on my block. When I checked my car I found out that despite locking it with the key lock, the drivers side door would still open and then the alarm would go off. I tried to change the settings (Disabled the walk away) and it is still happening. It doesn't seem the drivers side door locks at all but when I "lock" it on the key FOB is sets the alarm- so when someone opens the door the alarm goes off. Does anyone know why this is? or how to fix it?
thanks!

If the alarm sets but the door doesn't lock you could have a bad lock actuator in the driver's door. When the PCM receives a lock/unlock signal from the FOB, it sends an electric signal to the lock actuator in each of the doors, the actuators converts the electric signal to the physical action of opening or closing the levers that locks or unlocks a door. The alarm goes off because the PCM assumed the door is locked, so if it's opened without a signal from the fob then someone must have picked the lock.

When you are sitting in the driver's seat and you lock the door with the master door lock switch, does the lock tab on the side of the inner door handle move to the lock position? If it does then the problem may not be the actuator. See your Honda dealer for hands on troubleshooting.
