Brought the Passport in for service @ 40k miles and the dealer wanted $116. to replace the two filters. Went on Amazon and ordered a K&N cabin and air filter for $79. delivered. They couldn’t of been easier to put in, and they are washable too, I’ll never buy filters for it again. Anyone else try these? I’ve had them in other vehicles and they are great!

I ran K&N air filter on my 8th gen Si for 250k miles, vehicle still pulled hard the day I sold it. Just my personal experience.

I'm not a gas it and go owner. So, I tinker with all kinds of things on the car.
The loose filtration does not damage anything, because the sticky red oil film compensates for the weave. Just follow the instruction, when using the recharge kit.
I like the option of washing & cleaning the air filter instead of installing a new one.
As with all my cars while their K&N is drying, I detail the engine bay, besides by the time I would go thru 3 OEM filters my K&N is paid for.

I've used them also and never had aa problem, but testing indicates they do not filter as well. Probably not a big deal but I'd rather have better filtration over better air flow.
No worries, I'm not trying to be a KN salesman. Use whatever works best for you. 👍
I actually use an OEM air filter on my Audi.

@carpayments4life

When I had my Si , I purchased 2 K&N filters so I could quickly swap them out and have an extra day to wash, dry, re-oil , and have it ready for next time.

As far as the washable part goes, I have tried these as well and after washing them (following the instructions of course) they deteriorated to the point that I did not feel comfortable using them again. I see all automotive filtration products as one and done as far as usage goes. To each their own but I cannot personally recommend using any K&N product more than once despite what the manufacturer might claim. Filters are cheaper to replace than engines.

Despite the oil film, tests have shown it still permits more particulate matter into the engine
Sounds like you are anti-K&N . 😉. Please share those links.

I'm definitely not anti-K&N. As I said before, I have used them in several of my vehicles in the past and never had any problems with them. But I stopped using them when I stopped caring about trying to potentially squeeze a few extra hp out of my vehicles and also after reading of tests that showed they do not filter as well as most paper filters. The tests are out there if you search for them. I'm not trying to convince anyone, just stating my experiences and opinions. There have also been some discussions on this at BITOG forums.
As is said so often these days, "follow the science". ;)

I wonder if the $116 included the labour to install them. I wonder if you just went to the Parts counter how much they would cost

More flow because it's less restrictive, not into maintaining a filter by washing it, allowing it to dry, re-oiling it. For what? The possibility of allowing finer particulate through into the intake, a (1-2) actual hp increase, maybe, you're not gonna even notice it. Been there, done it. No thanks.
K&N has great marketing, Developed for racing applications where every bit of HP is needed. You all cannot tell me you are driving in such a way that would warrant this. If you are, then you're spending that "savings" on all the petrol you're excessively burning. Not to mention the folks that over oil theses things which does nothing for performance.

Do what you want, no need for my approval. Maybe you should consult with your wife if you're looking for approval.
No worries, no need to get upset. 😇

Can't see your signature from my device. I agree life is short and my family is the only thing I truly care about and not what @CHEFERMAN65 thinks about KN 😉
